Cull the Powerful with Common and Rare Monsters (Battle Mage Secrets)

When common and rare monsters unite, they get determined to cull the powerful and their raise the slogan "Rise of the Commons". The power of the common monster is often underestimated in a battle, but they often outwit their enemy and win.

Lily Shieldpaw was stuck in a situation, she was sent to defeat a powerful enemy and there were no epic and legendary monsters to recruit for the battle. Relenor reached her and told her not to worry and he invited goblins, orcs, turtles, and fish to aid her in the battle.

Rise of the Commons

This ruleset removes all Epic and Legendary cards from the decks and allows one to pick only common and rare cards except summoners in a battle. This is a favorable ruleset for those players who don't own powerful epic and legendary cards and beginners.

Additional Ruleset: Are You Not Entertained

This ruleset gives a chance to use 1 Gladiator card from Gladius Case packs without needing any summoner with Constrictor ability.

BATTLE LINEUP

A battle with 44 mana allows you to use the best mana cards in a battle and that's what I have done.

STRATEGY

How about making each monster behaves like a "Taunt" monster, it can be done quite easily by using Lily Shieldpaw, a red panda with her friends, who can hide all the monster except one in the first position. This means my backline units cannot be attacked directly by enemy units. Lily also adds +1 health points to all friendly units.

I used 1 armor piecing monster to not only crush the armor but also inflict remaining damage on the enemy monster's health and the tank is supported by a Gladiator card with Reach ability. An armor repair unit is also selected to keep repairing the damaged armor of any unit that needs it.

Each round my whole party can inflict a total damage of 13 points which means my team can remove any enemy unit up to 13 health points.

Summoner and Monsters in Action

Lily Shieldpaw and her friends are small animals but they have gained abilities beyond their knowledge and harnessed themselves with celestial magic. She can hide her allies with the Camouflage ability and heal them with the Triage ability. She is a legendary Dragon summoner who knows how to summon dragons and support her army with her magical cantrips.

Goblin Mech is used as a tank in this battle, it uses Piercing ability to rip the enemy's armor and its hit reaches behind the armor and damages health. With a very powerful attack, he can injure or kill an enemy so easily.

Relenor Cleaver is placed in the 2nd position, he is a rare Gladiator and possesses "Bloodlust" and Reach abilities. When he kills a monster, he adds +1 to all his stats and becomes more fierce, he can attack from 2nd position with his "Reach" ability.

Swamp Spitter is known as both an offensive and support unit, he can repair any damaged armor of any unit in the battle.

Deeplurker stands at 4th position and he can jump and attack any monster with the lowest hit points using his Opportunity ability.

Dumacke Orc is the last monster in the backline, he has no such use except that being a gold foil card with level 3 can help gain more reward points.

Within 6 rounds, the whole battlefield was the graveyard to enemy units, the enemy tried their best to overcome my team of common and rare monsters, but they failed in their mission and rested in peace finally. Watch this battle in this YouTube video.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

Lily Shieldpaw and her friends spread the magical clouds hide all the party and give them extra health.

Daria Dragonscale bangs her shield with the sword and increases the attack of all melee units.

Round 1
Enemy Dumacke Warrior retaliates and damages any melee unit that attacks him, if there were no armor or big healthy monsters it would have already killed them.

"I like your battle style, Dumacke, we gladiators know 101 ways to kill an orc on the battlefield." says Relenor Cleaver with pride and sweeps his axe around his unprotected neck, Dumacke Orc's head is severed and blood is oozing out of his veins with a burst.

Rounds 2
Loathsome Gelatinous Cube is facing Goblin Mech, what can he do but watch his death coming closer with each powerful hit landed by Lily's units?

A smile sprouts on Deeplurker's face and yells with joy "Mmm, yum yummy, I haven't tried a dessert for so long, this cube looks delicious.", water is literarily dripping from his mouth as he licks and swallows Gelatinous Cube with a slurpy sound.

As he finishes with a belch, the stench is just unbearable, "Where are your table manners, Deeplurker." complains Relenor closing his nostrils.

Round 3
Goblin Mech is weakened by energy balls hurled by Prismatic Energy, his time has arrived and one more energy hit can make his malfunction.

"Mech gears are melting, mech goes down." informs Goblin and Mech starts to vibrate heavily, its parts are falling and oil is leaking. Goblin Mech falls to the ground and its parts scatter all over the battlefield.

*Round 4
"People fear giants, but you are just a joke in their name, a peaceful giant, haha." says Swamp Spitter with an echoing laughter, then he blows a dart and kills Peaceful Giant.

Sand Word burrows out from the ground, Relenor lands a strike and holds with his axe on the ground, and Deeplurker jumps and shreds his pharynx.

Round 5
"Come on you annoying ball of energy, we have been waiting for you so eagerly." shouts Relenor and everyone attacks him viciously and finally kills him.

Round 6
"It is time to end the battle by killing the last enemy unit left on the battlefield." suggests Swap Spitter, "Yah, I like his eye, one eye, big eye, juicy eye, mmm mua ha ha." says hungry Deeplurker.

After being severely wounded by Relenor's attacks, Deeplurker is feasting on Cyclops's body starting from his only eye.

STRATEGY OUTCOME ANALYSIS

Splinterlads is a game of experiments, so why not try new strategies and surprise the opponents. This is a newly found strategy which proved to be a damn success and Lily Shieldpaw.

Lily Shieldpaw's Camouflage ability is a lifesaver for the backline monster, it acts like Taunt for the monster in 1st position and diverts all attacks to the visible unit. Another benefit is that when your unit is hit by a blast or other indirect damages, Lily's Triage keeps healing the monster with the lowest health, which you can observe in this battle when Deeplurker lost 4 health points, he was healed to full health within 2 rounds. Having additional health is also a benefit for friendly units as the enemy units need extra rounds to kill that monster.

I see Dumacke Orc had no use except for earning extra RP, but I will replace him with another suitable ranged or stealth monster to add extra damage points in the battle.

Overall, it was a wonderful battle and Lily became victorious by saving the backline monster with Camouflage and Triage.
