The Legendary Skrag the Gnaw

Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!

Skrag the Gnaw is a legendary unit from the Earth splinter and the Gnome bloodline. He is a powerful melee tank five useful abilities at maxed level. I recently got him from legendary chests and now using him in battles. In today's post, we'll go over his lore, his stats and abilities and show a battle where he's used effectively.

Lore

Skrag the Gnaw is a mean, filthy scavenger from the sewers of New Beluroc who earned his reputation by out fighting others for survival. After spending years picking pockets near the Abyssal Pit, he was recruited by the mage Craniax the Quick, who offered food and purpose in exchange for information and stealthy assassination work. Skrag loyally joined Craniax's undead campaign, finding acceptance among the dead who do not mind his filth and sores. Today, he loots the bodies left behind by Craniax's army and uses his knife without hesitation on anyone standing in their way, driven purely by survival rather than power or glory.

Stats and Abilities

Skrag the Gnaw is deserving to be called a legendary card. His stats and abilities are all superb. At maxed level, he deals four melee damage and has three speed. On defense he has five armor and eight health making him a good tank. Aside from his stats, it's his five abilities that make him great. First he has Poison Burst, allowing him to inflict Poison on his attacker and a chance to poison units adjacent to it as well when he gets defeated. Second he has Reflexes, a broken defensive ability that allows him to dodge attacks. Third he has Cripple, decreasing his target's max health after each successful attack. Fourth, he has Thorns, a great ability to punish melee attackers. Finally he has Rebirth, allowing him to self resurrect once per battle.

For Silver level players, having him at level two is good enough when he gains his Reflexes ability.

Featured Battle

In this battle, I had the Earth splinter and Skrag the Gnaw as my primary tank. Even at level one, he's already strong with a good balance of attack and defense. His lone ability of Poison Burst is also great to leave his attackers poisoned after he gets defeated. The rest of my team were composed of elves to take advantage of the Execute ability to be given by the Earth archon.

My enemy had a strong team with higher level units. After Skrag the Gnaw got defeated, he inflicted Poison on two enemy units ensuring that they get damaged each round.

This helped reduce their health and helped my team gain the victory in this battle.
