Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Our Latest Guild Brawl

image created with Night Cafe Studio

Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Our guild finished another exciting brawl! Today I will share about our performance and the new Gladiator cards I acquired from the shop.

Brawl Performance

I had a great brawl this time scoring six wins out of eight battles. We earned some decent 4,800 Merits and 63 SPS.

Our guild didn't do too well in the brawl though. We only took seventh place this time. We earned 92 crowns that can be used to improve our buildings.

Guild Store

I have over 6,000 merits which I used to buy three Gladius Cases. Each Gladius case contain five powerful Gladiator cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. Last week I got a legendary card so I'm not keeping my hopes up this time.

Gladius Case Opening

With three packs, I would have fifteen new cards added to my collection. I'm hoping to at least upgrade some cards and make them stronger.

To my surprise, I got another legendary card! It's Larissa Kerato, a legendary Dragon splinter. She is a powerful magic damage dealer who has the Double Strike ability.

Upgrading Cards

After this pull I was able to upgrade a couple of cards.

Cutter Brieze

Cutter Brieze is a rare, Earth splinter card. I upgraded him to level four giving him an additional health. His stats are two ranged damage, impressive speed of five and health of three. What's great about him is he only requires one mana! He could have been a regular in my line up but he competes slots with two great Gladiator cards in the Earth splinter: Quora Towershead and Katrelba Gobson. Both of these cards can equal legendaries in damage potential and effectiveness in battle. Cutter Brieze will find it hard to find slots in my battles since only one Gladiator card is allowed.

Larissa Kerato - Queen of the Dragons

Larissa Kerato is a strong card at level one. She deals two magic damage and has the Double Strike ability making her an effective damage dealer. At level two she doesn't increase her stats but gains the Void ability. In my eyes, this upgrade is a bit underwhelming. Void ability does not synergize with her other abilities. It's an ability that would be great for tanks or units with Taunt but with her, I think it's wasted. For a backline unit, the chances of Larissa to be hit by a magic attack is very rare or maybe in some obscure rulesets. Such ability is wasted on a legendary card and a bit disappointing.

Featured Battle

Today's featured battle has the Unprotected and Equal Opportunity rulesets. To play this, I needed high damage units and a unit with Taunt ability to draw away attacks from my low health units. I also need faster units to be able to attack first before my opponent does.

Quix the Devious (Summoner)

I picked Quix as summoner because I wanted to use some Dragon units. Also, Quix slows the opponent down so in effect, it gives me a speed boost.

Uriel the Purifier (Tank)

Uriel is a strong tank able to absorb damage and deal a lot of damage on his own.

Night Reaper (second position)

Night Reaper is proving to be deadly especially against flying units where his Wingbreak ability works like a charm. I will do a deep dive post about Night Reaper soon.

Djinn Renova (third position)

Djinn Renova deals three magic damage and has the Triage and Strengthen abilities. I often use her with Iziar whom she works well with.

Larissa Kerato (fourth position)

For my gladiator card, I chose Larissa Kerato (who I pulled later in the rewards). She is a strong damage dealer who is able to do four magic damage in one turn because of her Double Strike ability.

Spirit Hoarder (fifth position)

Spirit Hoarder is another unit with Triage ability. He can help heal Iziar.

Iziar (sixth position)

Iziar is my unit with Taunt and Void ability. He is a great unit for drawing attacks having twelve health while being healed by units with Triage ability.

My opponent picked the Death splinter. His team was composed of Usut as tank, a flying unit who is great a great tank but in this situation is countered by my Night Reaper. He also has Kain Hace, a legendary card with Blast ability but only has two health. Not really an ideal unit to use in Equal Opportunity ruleset. His other units have low health and he has no unit with Taunt abilities.

In the first round, my opponent's Kain Hace was immediately eliminated while his Usut's health was easily diminished by my Night Reaper and was soon eliminated in the second round. All the while, my Iziar was absorbing damage and being healed by my Djinn Renova and Spirit Hoarder. Soon, my opponent's other units got eliminated one by one. I won without losing any units for a perfect victory.
