Silvershield Assassin: The OG Backline Hunter

The Silvershield Assassin is one of the most iconic melee attackers in Splinterlands, especially among OG and Wild players. It has long been valued as a premier backline hunter thanks to its combination of speed, sneak, double strike and poison abilities.
It was one of the original cards in Splinterlands and was uniquely powerful because it has the Double Strike ability that was uncommon at the time where only few cards exist.
Stats and Abilities
The Silver Shield Assassin is one of the offensive cards in the defense and sustainability focused Life splinter. At maxed level he deals three melee damage and is fast with four speed. He has two armor and six health on defense. His three abilities are highly offensive making him one of the strong attackers in the Alpha Beta set. He has Sneak that allows him to harass the enemy back line. His most powerful ability is Double Strike which allows him to hit twice per round. It is complemented by Poison, further leaving lasting damage to his target.
Featured Battle
The ruleset in this battle was Up Close & Personal and Outsider. It allowed old cards like the Silver Shield Assassin to join in Modern format battles. Player Z-R used the Frontier archon that grants armor to his allies. It's a good strategy considering there were no magic units to be summoned. He had an excellent team with Taye Loreswift increasing his team's damage with Inspire. He had a strong tank and other damage dealers that can attack from afar. His rear was guarded by Halfling Refugee who can self heal.
His enemy was me. I chose the Fire archon for its speed. For my outsider, I had Dumacke Orc who has thick armor and has Shield and Retaliate abilities. All my melee units can also attack from afar. However, ZR had the better archon in this battle and his units had better synergy and outsider card. All these advantages led him to take the win away from my team.
