My Death Team Strategy in the Anemic Ruleset

Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!

The Anemic ruleset is one of Splinterlands stat modifiers. Under this ruleset, every unit starts the battle with a maximum of only four health regardless of its normal health value. Because of this restriction, many tanks lose one of their biggest advantages. Units that usually rely on huge health become less tanky, while high damage dealers and ability units become more valuable.

It's this ability from the Death team that I rely on in one of my strategies to deal with the Anemic ruleset. In this strategy, I combine the Weaken ability with Life Leech.

Key Units

The key units I use in this set up are the following. Surprisingly, they are a cheap team having composed of mostly cards from the Frontier set.

Thalgrimore

Thalgrimore is a Frontier archon. He decreases the enemy health by one thus further restricting the enemy who already has diminished health.

Shadowfey Shiek

Shadowfey Shiek deals two magic damage which because of my strategy, is enough to defeat the enemy in one hit. He also has the Life Leech ability that increases his health and max health every time he hits an enemy. This ability is crucial since he can overcome the four health restriction as long as he hits an enemy.

Little Sister

Little Sister is a legendary Frontier card. Her attack and abilities are the same as Shadowfey Shiek and I include her in the line up precisely because of this.

Sorrow Harvester

Sorrow Harvester is an epic Frontier card. She deals two magic damage but more importantly, she has the Weaken ability. In combination with the archon, they both decrease the enemy's health by two leaving them with only two health. This severely puts the enemy at a disadvantage since each unit can be defeated by only one hit. This is the core of my strategy, cheap but effective.

Featured Battle

I was up against a team led by the legendary Lorkus. He applied the same team composition as mine. He has a tank that's anti magic followed by an all magic team. He focused on dealing damage as his line up included the legendary Barashkukor who also has Life Leech. Another feature of his strategy is the inclusion of Arachne Weaver whose Scavenger ability increases its health as units gets defeated. It thus overcome the health restriction. I didn't include it in my team owing to his healing ability being less effective, or so I thought.

Even though my enemy had a legendary archon and had strong units like Barashkukor, the Anemic ruleset was a great leveller. Even the enemy's Taunt unit was defeated in one hit. My advantage in health was the deciding factor in this battle proving that my strategy worked.
