Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!
Jolius Blast is a rare Fire unit from the Arena Vanguard cards. He is a Djinn bloodline with a thirteen mana cost, inspired by the Splinterlands community member @iblast. He's a card that originated in the Frontier but he is strong enough to fight in the Modern mode or even Wild. In today's post, I'll show a sample battle and the combo I used with Jolius.

The battle had Earthquake, Super Sneak and Counterspell. I need flying units or high health units to survive. Super Sneak means the melee units can attack from any position where they target the enemy's rear. Lastly, Counterspell discourages the use of magic units.
Even without Super Sneak, Doomshield Warden is a perfect combo to Jolius Blast. He deals four melee damage and has excellent defense. He has the Flank ability allowing Jolius to have attack from second position with Reach ability.
Jolius has high health stats of twelve even at level one. He also deals three melee damage and has decent speed. Partnered with Doomshield Warden, he can attack from second position with Reach ability.
A null attack unit with high health and armor. His defensive stats are needed in this survival ruleset. He will gain two magic attack from Shiraza.
Shiraza is my combo unit to Ulundin Overseer. She grants him two magic attack giving him an offensive weapon.
A one mana unit to guard the rear. The Halfling Refugee has six health to absorb attacks from sneak attackers while also dealing three melee damage in this ruleset.
The Kha'zi Conjurer only cost two mana but deals four range damage. In addition, he also has six health to catch sneak attackers.
The enemy had a higher level archon and units. His Doomshield Warden is at level five and has better stats and an additional ability compared to mine. He has an all melee team save for one null attack unit. However, his units have higher mana and he put five cards compared to my six.
In a battle of attrition, the one with more units and higher health stats overall had the advantage. I have in my team Ulundin Overseer and Jolius Blast who both have twelve health. Even though the enemy had a flying unit, my team still prevailed.
It's a smashing debut by Jolius Blast in the Modern mode. It shows that he can compete with Conclave Arcana cards even at level one. This is a promising start and I'll be using him more in my battles in Modern.

I didn't know this card was inspired by @iblast—wow, that's so cool! He gave me one and I'm very grateful; keep up the great work!
That was a really interesting combo. Jolius Blast having 12 health at level one is pretty impressive and he definitely proved himself in this battle.
