Which game mode in Splinterlands is the best way to make money? [EN-ES]

Well, in this post I want to do something a little different. Even though it’s a topic I’ve touched on before, I hadn’t covered it as thoroughly as I plan to now, since for any average player or newcomer, the idea they have in mind is simply to play any game mode and win—after all, there are a lot of options available that promise great rewards. in fact, you just have to look at the options and tabs within the game itself—for example, we have the “Modern” and “Wild” formats, Guild Battles, the Tournaments I talked about recently, and, of course, one of the most interesting modes: “Land Plots.”

However, the problem with this is spreading all our resources across so many game modes, when the reality is that if we choose just one of them and dedicate enough time to it, we could turn that game mode into the one that yields the most profit compared to the rest—saving time and effort while focusing every little resource on growing that specific mode. but to know this for certain, there are various factors to consider—ranging from initial capital spent on purchased or rented cards, to owned or rented SPS, and certain fixed costs within the game itself for participating in various game modes.

That’s why I’m writing this post—to analyze where it’s truly worth investing all our resources. It might take me two posts to cover all of this, which means the information will be divided into two parts, but I’ll try to condense it as much as possible. However, the information is important even if it’s a bit long and hard to digest. But if you want to know more, keep reading:

A Numerical Comparison of Game Modes and Their Reward Pools

The first thing we need to analyze to determine where we should focus our resources is to observe and/or understand where the money is. To do this, we must understand how SPS are distributed—since SPS serves not only as the governance token but also as the reward token—which is essential for achieving our goals.

So, the current distribution of SPS for each known game mode is as follows:

image.png

SPS Wells by Game Mode

  • Modern Format Pool: 900,000 SPS are distributed each season, which amounts to about 1.8 million SPS per month.

  • Wild Format Pool: Same as for the “Modern Format”—about 900,000 SPS per season, which amounts to 1.8 million SPS per month.

  • Survival Mode Pool: This also amounts to about 90,000 SPS per season, which works out to about 1.8 million SPS per month.

  • Guild Battles Pool: Here the amount varies, as 2.5 million SPS are allocated monthly and distributed among all guilds competing in all tiers and those that manage to unlock the rewards.

IMPORTANT: Well, if we take a close look at what each of these game modes has to offer, the “Modern” and “Wild” formats would be the standout choices. However, we must take into account the associated operating costs—this is where the reality of the rewards changes. That’s why we now need to examine the costs involved in each game mode and choose one of them so we can focus all our resources on it.

Analysis of Each of the “Formats” and Their Associated Costs

Okay, what I'm going to do here is look at the costs associated with each of the formats I mentioned earlier, and then, in the next section, discuss the format where I think we should focus our resources to make money in Splinterlands. So, with that in mind, let's get started:

  • The Wild Format: Well, I’m going to start with this one because, of all the formats, I think it has the most associated costs and penalties. To begin with, in order to play in this format, you need to purchase a “Wild Pass” that costs about 2,000 DEC per season, which means 4,000 DEC per season. On the other hand, this mode comes with an SPS penalty in Staking, which means that players in this format need 50% more SPS in Staking to try to maintain the same reward multiplier as a Modern player. All of this, plus the cost of renting the decks needed to play, requires an approximate expenditure of between $2 and $6 for passes and rentals; however, if the price of DEC rises to its parity, this cost increases from $5 to $10.

  • Survival Mode: Here’s what the BRACKETS are—there’s one, just like the ones recently added to “Modern.” Although there’s no entry fee, the “Exhaustion” mechanic for cards and the need to have a massive deck size require a significant financial investment to keep up with the pace and remain competitive. It’s not an easy game mode; it’s for experts looking for a more challenging experience than traditional game modes.

  • Lands: In my opinion, “Land Plots” are one of the best ways to earn money in the game semi-passively—and I say “semi” because you still have to keep an eye on your plots; after all, nothing works 100% on its own— but what makes this mode really expensive is the barrier to entry, since there are a number of requirements that significantly increase the investment compared to the other modes.

So what's the winning "strategy" for making money on Splinterlands?

I imagine you already know which one is the winner—yes, the “Modern Format”—because, when you look at the big picture, the fixed costs, the profitability, the inclusion of the new BRACKETS, and the fact that there are no penalties make this mode the best way to make money and focus our resources. This means that my recommendation is to focus on this mode to play and win. Although I want to explain why, I won’t do so in this post—I’ll cover it in the next one.

Final Thoughts

So, while this information may already be completely clear to some of you, the reality is that it’s very important. On the other hand, in the next post I’ll cover everything about why “Modern Mode” is the best way to make money in the game “Jugando,” since I’ve mentioned many times that there are quite a few ways to make money, even if you don’t play.

So stay tuned for the next post—though I’m not sure if it’ll be the very next one—but I’ll definitely get it out there, so don’t worry.

See you on the "Battlefield"
