When the “Rebellion” set was released—I believe it was when they launched the Rewards Set—a new series of abilities called “Weaknesses” was introduced. These abilities simply work against your own lineup in order to balance the power between the card with the Weakness and the rest of your team, since generally—or practically on all currently existing cards with “Weaknesses”—these cards have very powerful stats, far exceeding what even a “Legendary” card can offer. That’s why, to prevent players from gaining too much of an advantage from this, they added these “Weaknesses” to make the game more balanced.
But, even though these “Weaknesses” work against your team, the reality is that many can actually function as an additional source of power for many of your cards on the field. Of course, these are more advanced strategies that I won’t cover in this post; however, this is possible, and the reality is that they’re among the strongest in the game right now. As a result, these types of cards are highly sought-after, powerful, and capable of turning the tide of the game—even when they aren’t “Legendary” cards, which are the ones that typically change the course of the match drastically. That’s why, in this post, I’ll share the beginning of a “ranking” of cards with “Debuffs,” from strongest to weakest—though I’ll do so in several parts so as not to make the posts too long.
So, if you don't know what these cards are or want to know what these "Weaknesses" are, this is the perfect post for you to learn about them and pay close attention:

I imagine you’re wondering why I’m starting with “Top 2” instead of starting with number one, which is the usual way, but that’s because “No. 1” is the card called “Halfling Refugee,” which I’ve already discussed in two previous posts where I highlighted that it’s one of the most-used cards in the current META. So, I don’t want to keep repeating myself—let’s just jump right into the 2nd and 3rd spots. Also, I could start by explaining each of the “Debuffs,” but I’ll save that for other posts:
With that out of the way, let’s get started:

Well, let’s start with the basics and work our way up to what everyone wants to read, so here we go:
Card Details: To put them in context, this card is from the “Arcana Conclave” set, belongs to the Dragon Splinter, and is a Legendary card. As such, it’s already a very valuable card with excellent stats on its own. However, that’s not the only advantage of cards with the “Weakening” effect—they actually complement other abilities very well. Finally, its “Debuff” is called “Electrified.”
Base Card Stats: I’ll always share them at their maximum level, so for attack, it has +4 magic attack points—my favorite, if you ask me—and it also has +4 speed, which is absolutely insane. It doesn’t have a shield, but it does have +10 health points, making it extremely resilient. And I haven’t even mentioned its most valuable stat yet: and that’s its “Mana Cost,” which is just +4 points—so even with this alone, you can see the potential it has.
Abilities: This card has 5 great abilities that make it incredibly dangerous. I’ll break them down quickly so we don’t waste too much time, but you’ll see that it’s an extremely valuable card:
Shapeshift: This ability allows you to be treated as any lineage, which means there isn’t a single card in the game that can’t be played with Calamity.
Electrified: This is the card’s Debuff, and its effect is simple: it inflicts -1 damage on all cards in my team starting in round 2 and continuing in every subsequent round. So, this power comes at a cost, but it’s totally worth it.
Life Leech: This is one of my favorite abilities in the game, since when I hit an enemy—which is very easy with this card—my health points increase by 50% (rounded up), so I’ll always end up with more health points than before.
Exposed: This ability means that when you hit an enemy, there’s an 80% chance of removing their abilities (Forcefield, Lookout, Deflect, Shield, Void, Void Armor, Cleanse, and Immunity), always prioritizing immunity first.
Last Stand: Increases all your stats by an additional 50% if you’re left alone on the battlefield. So, if all your allies die, this card boosts your power and defense, which can make you very difficult to defeat.

The mechanics of this card are very clear, and I imagine that, thanks to its stats and abilities, you’ve already figured out what they might be. However, don’t worry— the point is for me to explain why this card is “Top 2”—even though it could easily be number 1. So, the idea behind this card is that when you play it, you protect your allies, who are bound to take damage from “Electrified,” but there are ways to mitigate this weakness, and that’s what makes a deck built around a card like “Calamity” so powerful. So, pay close attention:

Abilities and Summoners: To avoid constant damage, the idea is to play cards with abilities like “Void Armor,” “Void,” or “Shield,” or to pair them from the start with “Summoners” that focus on restoring the cards’ health and armor. This will give you a solid “Support” team, while you leave all the offense to “Calamity” and perhaps another offensive card, defending it with the rest of your deck.
Mandatory Support: On the other hand, cards with abilities like “Cleanse,” “Tank Heal,” and “Repair” are essential for protecting that powerful offense while also protecting themselves. Of course, this isn’t the only way to play it—these are just recommendations—but it would be the ideal approach.
Scenarios Where to Play It
You can play this card in scenarios where the mana cost is medium to high, since you need the “Support” I mentioned earlier—this would be ideal, though there may be opportunities in other types of scenarios, albeit with greater risk. For example, I wouldn’t recommend scenarios with very little mana, since your units will quickly suffer from “Electrified,” but in some cases, it can work.

As you can see, Calamity is a fearsome and very powerful card that can single-handedly weaken any opponent’s lineup. However, it isn’t all-powerful on its own—it requires strategy. We can’t just play it without thinking, because we won’t win every time. Still, there’s a reason it’s in the “Top 2,” though it could easily be number one.
This is a series that will continue with the rest of the cards and their “Weaknesses,” so stay tuned.

Agreed, Calamity is the strongest card with negative abilities in Champion.
