Final Proposals to Make the “WILD FORMAT” “Fair and Competitive” [EN-ES]

About a week ago, I shared a post in which I talked about how to maximize rewards in “Wild Format.” In that post, I explained the clear strategy we should use to come out ahead despite the major disadvantages in that format. While there is a rationale for these disadvantages, the reality—and in my opinion—is that the game itself is to blame, but not the players’. Allowing bots without any restrictions in the “Formats” led to rewards being drained very aggressively, which caused the formats to split—with one of them banning these bots to ensure that battles and rewards remained fair and competitive at the same time.

Of course, this is great, but, of course, this doesn’t happen in the “Wild Format,” since the game is far from ensuring that rewards are equal there, due to issues or rules that prevent us from earning as much as we could in the “Modern Format”—even though playing in “Wild” requires more strategy because all cards are used, but rather than discussing the complexity of gameplay, this post is intended to present various proposals and/or solutions that will help ensure rewards are fair and competitive, even when the conditions are slightly different from those in “Modern”—something that’s quite clear.

This post will get straight to the point regarding the discussion, since I want to jump right into the proposals without going into detail about the problems already present in the “Wild” format—which I explained in the post on how to maximize rewards, which I’ll also link right here so you can check it out if you’re struggling in that game mode:

Redesign of the WILD PASS and Alignment of GLINT's Base Rate with Modern

The first thing that comes to mind to try to balance those rewards and reduce the negative impact that the WILD PASS has on the earnings of players who play in that format is to redesign the way it’s charged, so that it evolves into a more equitable model and shifts from being an expense to something that can generate value for the players who choose to play there.

To explain this better, I’ll break it down as follows:

  • Tiered Pass by BRACKETS or Leagues: Yes, here I’m also talking about implementing the BRACKETS system in Wild, since this could adjust the cost of the WILD PASS depending on the player’s skill level or deck. For example, 500 DEC for someone who chooses to play in BRONZE, 1,000 DEC for SILVER, and 2,000 DEC for GOLD, DIAMOND, and CHAMPION, respectively. This is just an example and can be adjusted, but it would be fair to charge less to those with fewer resources to play—in this case, BRONZE players—who, of course, would struggle to earn more than 2,000 DEC, meaning they always end up with NET losses.

  • Value Return Mechanism (Cashback in GLINT or VOUCHERS): This isn’t an innovation per se, but rather a quick fix based on allowing 50% of the amount paid for the WILD PASS to be refunded in the form of Credits, GLINTS, or VOUCHERS—to be used exclusively in the official stores where each can be spent. This way, the pass is no longer an expense in its entirety and helps players progress in the game. The other 50% would be used to purchase and burn DEC or SPS.

GLINT's Base Rate Adjustment

The solution here is clear, since in my opinion there is no valid justification for a victory in Wild to grant 50% fewer GLINTS than in “Modern”—although it’s true that the large number of bots in Wild can farm a lot of GLINTS, there are simpler solutions to prevent this without affecting the rate. It would work as follows:

  • Unifying the Base Rate: Essentially, this involves aligning the base rate for GLINTS distributed in Modern with that of Wild, which would mean earning the same amount of GLINTS in both Modern and Wild. Furthermore, I believe Wild is more complex, so this would serve as a reward for that.

  • Limiting Bots per IP Address: This is a quicker solution; for example, allowing players to activate a maximum of 3 to 5 bots per IP address on their accounts would be an interesting approach.

Card Seniority Bonus in the SPS Formula + Exclusives and Cross-Utilization for Wild

This is where we’ll address the current 50% penalty and the requirement to have more SPS staked to get a higher multiplier, but if, instead, we reward RSHARES based on the card’s age—the older the card, the higher the percentage—although I believe this already works exactly as I’m proposing it, but the idea is for it to work without penalizing the +50% SPS required to meet a certain multiplier. To make this work, I suggest the following:

  • Adjusting the Staking Requirement: This simply involves lowering the SPS threshold in the Wild Format to put it on equal footing with “Modern”—it’s fairly straightforward and something that can be done.

  • Multiplier by Edition: This is where I’m talking about introducing the special RSHARES bonus for using cards from older editions. As I mentioned, this already works, but the idea would be to increase those bonuses slightly to offset the 50% penalty for not changing them.

Exclusive Features and Cross-Functionality for Wild

This is one of the proposals I like the most because if I’m innovating further, for example, the following could be implemented here:

  • Wild Rewards Store: The idea here is to introduce items such as titles, exclusive frames, and/or cosmetic items in the store that can only be purchased with GLINT.

  • Connection to LAND and Crafting: The bonus here would be straightforward, as it simply involves granting additional production incentives on land, but frequent activity in the “Wild Format” must be maintained.

Final Thoughts

With this, the Wild format could change and climb out of the rut it’s in, thanks to the disadvantages of playing there. Although, even with all the disadvantages, I really enjoy playing in that format—but when you have to prioritize your investment, which is the case for everyone who puts their own skin (money) on the line.

This could be implemented—I don’t think it’s very complicated—but of course, it would be amazing if we had more benefits. What do you think about this? Let me know in the comments.

See you on the "Battlefield"
