Beating Al the Mountain

Greetings to all Splinterlands players and hive gaming community! I spun the jackpot again in Lux's Favor wheel. There are several rewards to be won from the wheel ranging from sparks to special skins.

The jackpot prize is a battle against a choice among three strong bosses. Last time I fought and won against the strongest guy, Eagle Libre. He is a beast with very high stats and abilities. This time I chose the least powerful one, Al the Mountain.

Al the Mountain has four attack, six shield, thirty nine life and only two speed. He can defend against magic with Phase skill but his low speed does not help. His more effective defense is against archers because he has headwinds skill that decrease attacks. Overall, he is far weaker than Eagle Libre who is a beast.

I guessed Al can be beaten with a standard magic team. It's true that he has Phase to avoid magic attacks but the skill needs high speed to work. Plus, my Mystic Scaleweaver will further decrease Al's speed by one. His slow speed gives a chance that my tank can evade his attacks.

Al was a sitting duck in this game. My cards were faster and attacked first while Al's own attacks were evaded by my faster tank. The magic attacks were on target as Al's Phase ability did not proc weighed down by his lack of speed. My team won without with a complete line up and the prize was only 250 sparks. Next time, I will try the mid power guy.
