Hello my lords and lady battlemages, I come your way this new week with tales of a rather disappointing yet intriguing battle I fought recently. More interesting is the fact that this battle tests the strategy I shared in this post. I didn’t win the battle but (and stick with me) that was because of how overpowered I was in this battle. Still though, I can’t believe that a strategy like the one I used fought the monsters I was up against in this battle. Why don’t I just show you?

My panic began when I saw Drybone Barbaria. I've only faced him once and I lost that battle. Honestly, why did I never rent him? I remember that day I fought him, I took note of him to rent after that battle. Seems I forgot. Anyways, the panic worsened the moment I saw Venari Marksrat: I knew I was fucked. But I had yet to find out how fucked I was until I saw captain katie. There are two women I don't like in this world - Captain Katie and Quora.

My line up is precisely what I described in the cryptic strategy I shared last week
This opponent honestly gave me the shock of my life. I used this strategy because I predicted from their previous battles they liked melee monsters. However, none of the monsters they used in this battle was in their last battles. I'm not sure whether they switched their deck up because they saw I used some pretty tough monsters in my own previous lineups or not, but they dodged me for sure!
So I basically selected this line up with the intention to debuff, weaken and kill their melee monsters, which is the entire aim of this "cryptic strategy" I created. But even though they did bring melee monsters, Drybone Barbarian is not exactly your average melee monster, especially if captain is on the line up as well, with venari marksrat as a fucking grenade next to her. Because I had both enfeeble and demoralize though, even Drybone Barbarian who normally would be a menace, didn't worry me too much. I killed him in the second round. How I wish enfeeble worked against magic monsters too.
Still, I think I did fairly well. If you watch the battle, you'll see that I actually came pretty close to killing Captain Katie. A strategic move my opponent made was adding Scavo Hireling and Clockwork Aide to draw away the attacks of my opportunity monsters. If it weren't for Scavo and Clockwork (who I ironically did not even think much of until the last moments of the battle) drawing away some of my attacks, and armoring Captain Katie, I likely would've won. By the time I killed Scavo to now get to Katie properly, she was unstoppable because of how much she's already buffed up. The born again ruleset made it super easy for her to buff up. Bloodlust's revel in this ruleset.
Please watch the battle here. The details are in the battle itself.

The game was lost immediately Captain Katie hit 4x bloodlust. I have her at level 2 and I'm still scared whenever I see it in the lineup of my opponent. You had the cards to the in, unfortunately your opponent didn't come out with melee cards and their trust in the Katie was repaid
Hehe that’s why I’m proud of myself. Katie is very formidable, so the fact that I still managed to get close to besting her with a not so extraordinary deck is an achievement for me.
I rented A LOT of powerful cards last night and I’m hoping that I get the chance to face Katie again sometime soon.😂I am prepared for her now and I am very confident the battle will end differently if our paths cross again.
If you're playing in a guild, you'll have access to soulbound cards i.e Katie by earning merits and buying gladius cards.
