The Food Factor for Workers and Construction in “LANDS” - Continued – Part 2

Best regards Splinterlovers 💚

In the first part of this series of posts—and since my last one was very specific—I explain clearly and simply in that “Basic Guide” how to get started with the “Land Plots” game mode, since it’s something not many people actually explain on the platform, and you mostly find guides and strategies for the standard game mode based on ranked play, which is the most common one. however, the “Land” system is growing exponentially within the game because the team’s efforts are heavily focused on frequent updates to the “Lands,” In fact, we’ve seen the first “craftable” cards they released—two, if I’m not mistaken—and finally this new edition of “Visions of Verico,” which is a set dedicated exclusively to Land Plots.

In that post—which you can read by clicking HERE, which I recommend reading before continuing with this one—you’ll find a clear step-by-step guide on how to get started. it’s very simple; the only thing you need to keep in mind and research are the associated costs of all the elements you need to become a landowner and have your first plot up and running. In this second part, I’ll explain other details about “feeding” workers, other resources you can obtain, and the structures needed to develop your plot. Of course, there are more details, strategies, and aspects that aren’t covered in the basics, but I’ll share those in future posts.

In the meantime, stick around until the end of this post so you can understand what comes next once you have all the elements mentioned in Part 1 of this series. So, if everything is clear, let’s begin with an explanation of what’s next:

The Factor of Feeding Workers with “Grain”

One thing you need to pay close attention to as soon as you start working on the plots of land is feeding the workers. In fact, this is often one of the causes and/or mistakes that beginners tend to make at the start, since they ignore the great importance of “Grain,” In fact, I’m absolutely certain it’s one of the most important resources in LANDS, since without it, you simply won’t be able to extract the resources needed to continue mining—and the most important thing in this regard is precisely that: being able to extract the rest of the resources so you can start working and/or manage everything properly.

In fact, to give you much more context on what “Grain” means in the gameplay of the land plots:

Functions of the Grain

  • Grain Consumption: When you place cards to work on a plot, as I explained in the first part, the plot continuously consumes grain. This is because the grain serves as the energy the workers need to continue operating—basically, their food.

  • Food Supply: One very important point is that grain is grown on the plots themselves; however, it requires a specific type of terrain. In fact, I also covered the different terrain types in Part 1—grain is basically grown on the following terrain types: (Plains, Rivers, and Lakes), or you can purchase it directly from the market using DEC.

  • Penalty for Malnutrition: As I mentioned earlier, grain serves as the workers’ primary and only food source. Therefore, if a plot of land runs out of “grain,” production will stop and/or suffer penalties that will affect the extraction rate. For this reason, we must always ensure that these plots have grain.

NOTE: Of course, there are many other details worth mentioning, and of course other resources that exist; however, the most important ones are undoubtedly the “Grains.” Therefore, right now and from the very beginning, the key to extracting resources at a good rate—in addition to the quality of the workers—is to always have reserves of “Grains” so as not to be penalized. I’ll explain the rest of the resources another time; that will be covered in a separate section.

Construction of the Work Site + Harvest

Once we have everything ready—by which I mean the energy needed to work on the plot, the five workers, and, of course, their food, which in this case is “Grano”—we’re all set to move forward and, this time for real, begin construction. But I imagine you’re wondering what we’re supposed to build, so pay close attention:

Building the Project

One thing to keep in mind is that you can’t build just any building you want, so the first thing you need to consider is the type of terrain you’re on, and depending on that terrain’s characteristics, you’ll choose what kind of building to construct. This is important because, depending on the type of terrain and whether you build something suited to it, you can earn bonuses when extracting resources. So, here’s what you can build:

  • Farm Plots: Here you can build plots that produce “Grain,” which is essential for workers.

  • Forest Plots, Quarries, and Mines: These structures produce Wood, Stone, and Iron—all of which are important for construction and, of course, are among the resources that can be extracted.

  • Special Plots: These are the plots that allow for direct mining of SPS or what’s also called “Research,” which can unlock “Blueprints.” I won’t go into detail on this topic right now, since it involves other aspects and/or details, but let me know in the comments if you’d like me to explain how this works.

NOTE: There is an “Item” called “Time Crystals,” which are needed to speed up the construction time of buildings. The advantage of this is that you don’t use up “Grains,” so it helps you manage and harvest everything much faster, so all that’s left is to “Harvest” the resources you’ve earned, which you can either save up or trade on the market for DEC.

Conclusion

So, with all that clarified, here’s this second part that perfectly complements the last post so you can learn how to play in “Land Plots.” These are, of course, just basic guidelines, since there are strategies and other details to cover that will help you progress much faster in this game mode, so keep all of that in mind.

So, if you want to know more details about how “Land Plots” work, let me know what else you’d like to learn, and I’ll be happy to prepare more content on the topic.
