How can you try to increase your DEC rewards when selling “Gold Foil” cards from the Rewards Edition?

Best regards Splinterlovers 💚

One of the most important changes made to Splinterlands this year—or, I believe, late last year in 2025—was the ability to earn direct in-game rewards in DEC by selling non-“Soulbound” reward cards; however, these aren’t just any cards—they’re “Golden Cards,” and they’re the only ones we can sell on the market without needing to use “Rarity Scrolls” to unlock the cards and make them transferable and, consequently, sellable on the open market.

That’s why today I want to shed some light on those players who already have a bit more experience in how to increase those rewards and the odds of winning “Golden Foil” cards—which are what we’re interested in—to create a more consistent cash flow where we don’t have to dip into the SPS we receive in the game’s various formats for “Battles Won,” In turn, for this to work, GLINTS are a fundamental part of the whole process, since they’re what will allow us to purchase the “Draws” or “Chests” we need to obtain them.

Now that all this is clear, I won’t make this post too long, so I’ll try to get straight to the point so you can see the analysis of all this. However, I’ll probably split this post into two parts, because the calculations focus on “Draws” so you can see the actual likelihood of the results:

Hunting for "Gold Foil" Cards (Odds and Costs)

As I mentioned in the introduction, the key to all of this is obtaining GF, or “Gold Foil,” cards, since they’re the only ones that can be sold on the market without needing the “Rarity Scrolls” I mentioned in the introduction. These scrolls unlock “Regular Foil” cards so that, ultimately, we can transfer these cards and they’re no longer tied to our accounts, which also allows us to sell them on the market.

Now then, with that clarified and knowing what we need to achieve, the next question is what we need to get there, and the quick answer is GLINT, which I’ve already talked about at length and have also shared some strategies for maximizing GLINT profits in conjunction with SPS. So, we just need to figure out what kind of strategy to use to get the “Golden Foil” cards we need to achieve the DEC cash flow we want.

Rarity Draws Strategy

The first thing we need to know here is the cost of GLINT for each pull in these Draws. We can’t estimate the returns without first knowing how much these “Draws” currently cost—they’re what will allow us to win these cards, although they aren’t the only option, since we also have “Chests.” I’ll talk more about that later, so I’ll continue with the costs:

  • Common Draw: Cost of 300 GLINT with a 0.50% chance of obtaining a Gold Foil
  • Rare Draw: Cost of 1,500 GLINT with a 0.50% chance of obtaining a Gold Foil
  • Epic Draw: Cost: 15,000 GLINT, with a 1% chance of obtaining a Gold Foil
  • Legendary Draw: Cost: 70,000 GLINT, with a 1% chance of obtaining a Gold Foil

As you can see, the costs aren’t exactly cheap the way I see it, especially considering that each “Draw” only gives us one card. Furthermore, if we also take into account that the odds of getting a “Gold Foil” card in each of these Draws are low for the simple reason that we only get one card, this greatly limits our ability to generate the cash flow we need. So, with that in mind, we need a lot of GLINTS and to run many draws before the minimum batch of Draws changes price in order to increase those odds and get our “Gold Foil” cards.

NOTE: While this strategy can work, the reality is that it requires a large number of GLINTS, so if you don’t play in leagues like “Gold, Diamond, and Champion,” I don’t recommend focusing on buying “Draws” because it will take a long time to get a “Gold Foil” card. It’s important to keep this in mind because, in the next section, you’ll see some more statistics to back this up.

Math – Sales Revenue Estimates for “Gold Foil”

Before we begin, I want to clarify that these numbers are not definitive and are only estimates, so I may be wrong. However, the purpose of this is to provide some information on the subject, since the goal is to maximize DEC revenue by selling “Gold Foil” on the open market. So, with that clarified, let’s move on to the numbers:

Market Price and Approximate Burn Value of “Gold Foil”

The first thing we need to do is estimate the market price of these cards based on their burn value, and for some of them, their market prices as well. However, before anything else, I want to clarify once again that these are approximate figures—they do not have to be official—but please pay attention to the number of DECs:

  • Common Gold Foil: 125 DEC ($0.125 - $0.18)
  • Rare Gold Foil: 500 DEC ($0.50 - $0.75)
  • Epic Gold Foil:2500 DEC ($2.50 – $3.50)
  • Legendary Gold Foil: 12500 DEC ($12.50 - $18)

With this, we can already make a rough estimate; however, it all depends on the card as well, since some common cards are even cheaper on the market, hovering around $0.018, rares at $0.047, epics at $0.23, and legendaries at $2.84. But to roughly estimate GLINT’s efficiency in terms of DEC generated from sales, we have the following:

  • Common Draw: 1 expected GF per 100 draws (30,000 Glint) = 125 DEC → 0.00417 DEC / Glint

  • Rare Draw: 1 expected GF per 100 draws (150,000 Glint) = 500 DEC → 0.00333 DEC / Glint

  • Epic Draw: 1 expected GF per 50 draws (750,000 Glint) = 2,500 DEC → 0.00333 DEC / Glint

  • Legendary Draw: 1 expected GF per 50 pulls (3,500,000 Glint) = 12,500 DEC → 0.00357 DEC / Glint

Conclusion

As you can see, the amount of GLINT required is quite high, assuming 100 pulls for the first three rarities and 50 for the subsequent ones, although I know it’s actually less than that, since it depends on the current number of pulls available for each. Even so, the bottom line is that it’s best to focus on the “Chests” at the beginning, but in a different way that I’ll explain in my next post.

If you have any questions or comments about this, or if you have more accurate figures than these, please let us know.
