Best regards Splinterlovers 💚

It’s been several days—almost a week—since I last shared a card analysis with you, and of course, I’ve taken way too long, so here’s a detailed breakdown and analysis of another card that I think is very powerful, and that belongs to one of the most underrated Splinters in the game—though I wouldn’t really call it “underrated”; rather, players tend to prefer brute force, but the “Death” element is much more focused on a different style of play, which I think is great, since it’s more about control, as the title suggests.

Of course, as I always do in these posts, we’ll talk about why this card is so powerful, look at its stats and abilities, and discuss the types of rulesets where it performs best—since that’s what these posts are for: to help you learn how to analyze cards and also consider what kinds of cards you might need in a hypothetical deck you’re building. But we already know what we’re getting into—I hope you’re enjoying this kind of post.

So, if you want to know everything about “Arachne Weaver,” stick around until the end of this post, because you’re sure to learn a lot about the cards and discover many great strategies:

Detailed Analysis and Statistics for “Arachne Weaver”

When analyzing a card, we should always start with its stats, since that’s how we can determine how good a card is—even without considering its most powerful features, which are its abilities. This is where you can see what kinds of situations the card is useful for. Of course, it’s easy to say, but it requires practice, study, and hard work, because analyzing the hundreds or perhaps thousands of existing cards is no easy task—even though there are platforms that help you with this— but this is what we must do.

Now that we've covered this "Tip" and everything is clear, let's move on to analyzing the statistics:

Complete statistics for “Arachne Weaver”

  • Rarity and Splinter: This is an “Epic” rarity card, giving it good market value—not so much because of its rarity but because of its usefulness on the battlefield. In fact, its lowest price is $1.8, and it also belongs to the “Death Splinter” set, one of my favorite sets because of how well it performs on the battlefield.

  • Mana Cost: This is undoubtedly one of its strengths, as it has a mana cost of 5. This makes it quite versatile on the battlefield, allowing it to fit into many different combinations and strategies.

  • Attack and Speed: This may not come as much of a surprise, since at its maximum level it has +2 points in attack and speed—which is fairly low. However, its strength isn’t in offense, and even though it may seem insignificant here, the reality is that it can deal much more damage than that.

  • Health and Shield: It has no shield points, so in a way it’s vulnerable to physical attacks. That’s why I’ll say right away that you need to place it in a good position to protect it, since its defense consists of only 7 health points.

As always, this is the cards’ strong point, and even though their stats aren’t out of this world—enough to decide battles—the reality is that their 5 mana cost gives them a wide range and plenty of opportunities to make an impact on the opponent’s lineup. But let’s take a look at the effects of their abilities:

His abilities:

  • Corrupted Healing: This is a very good “Support” ability because it restores up to 70% of the health of our allied cards that deal the most damage, however, it’s called “Corrupted” because every time this effect triggers, the card’s maximum health is reduced by 1 point. This means that as time goes on and the battle drags out, our cards will eventually become weaker in terms of health. Therefore, this card should be played alongside very powerful offensive cards to make the “Support” worth it.

  • Scavenger: This is one of my favorite abilities, especially on cards with the “Magic” attack type, since it can only be dodged using the “Phase” ability; otherwise, magic attacks will always hit their target. When this happens and units leave the battlefield—regardless of which side they’re on— this card gains +1 health and +1 maximum health, so in terms of health points, it becomes more resilient, increasing its defense.

  • Poison: This is the ability that deals passive damage every turn, with a 50% chance of activating whenever “Arachne Weaver” lands an attack, This means that not only does it deal its standard 2 points of magic attack damage, but if it manages to poison its opponent, the damage increases to 4 points—a effect that can only be removed with “Cleanse” or, failing that, if the opponent has the “Immunity” ability.

Some Key “Modifiers” for the Success of “Arachne Weaver”

  • Anemic: This modifier is ideal because it limits all cards on the field to +4 health points; however, thanks to “Scavenger,” this card gains greater resilience than the rest and is also able to break that limit due to the increase in maximum health.

  • Fate’s Certainty: Here, the “Poison” ability has a 100% chance of activating, meaning its damage always increases, dealing up to +4 health points. As a result, it not only provides “Support” but also deals damage.

  • Reverse Speed: This rule is ideal for playing “Arachne Weaver,” as her low speed allows her to get a head start on the attack, which not only helps on the offensive but also lets her effects kick in much faster.

Conclusion

In my opinion, this is an essential card for any type of deck. What I mean is that it’s very versatile—it can adapt to almost any situation in the game. So, even though it may seem weak, the reality is that it can deal a lot of damage. Although it may appear vulnerable because it doesn’t have much defense, “Scavenger” can counteract that.
