Best regards Splinterlovers 💚

I’ve wanted to write a post like this for a while because I imagine new players are wondering if the cards you get for free in the game—the famous cards from the “Foundations” set—have any value. Since they’re free, it’s only natural for new players to assume they’re worthless or, at best, have very little value. This is completely normal, since things that come for free is usually of fairly low value, and that’s a fact.

However, even though this premise is true to a certain extent regarding the game and the cards from the “Foundations” edition, many of these cards are actually quite valuable, but this is a detail that beginners might not be aware of, which is why I’m writing this post. The idea is to show how it works and how you can obtain these valuable cards, which have a pretty good market value and can be used to capitalize on and start progressing in Splinterlands much more quickly.

So, this post will show you how valuable these cards are and how you can get them. I’ll give you a heads-up right now: all it takes is a lot of persistence. But let’s get right to the post:

What is the actual value of the cards in the “Foundations” SET?

These cards themselves, in their “Common” rarity, are actually worth very little, though that doesn’t mean they’re bad in-game. However, common cards like the ones I just mentioned are relatively easy to obtain, and when that happens, the supply of these cards is naturally high, which causes their market price to be well below average. However, far from seeing this as a negative, it’s definitely a positive—because with very little money—I’m talking about $3 to $4 at most, maybe even less—you can build a complete deck of these cards.

Although it’s actually much less time-consuming, since you can obtain most of these cards just by playing “Campaign Mode,” and you can find the ones you’re missing on the market to keep your deck fully updated—even though some might think this is a waste of time and resources, I don’t see it that way. As I said, consistency is key in this mode, but I’ll delve into this in the next section. In the meantime, to give you an idea of what you can achieve with that consistency, take a look at the following two images, which show the most expensive cards in this set:

As you can see in the images, these cards are extremely valuable; of course, we're talking about the rarest cards in the entire game, which are:

  • Black Foil
  • Black Foil Arcane
  • Gold Foil Arcane
  • Gold Foil

Of course, if you’ve done your homework, you’ll know that getting these kinds of cards is a bit tricky, but it’s not impossible. So, if you play your cards right, you could end up with these cards, which will definitely help you make progress in the game. But this raises a question: How do you go about getting these kinds of cards?

In the next section, we’ll look at how you can do this and provide a brief step-by-step guide on how to build a deck from the “Foundations” set.

How can I earn expensive “Card Sheets” from the Foundations SET?

Okay, to start this section, I’ll go from beginning to end. That means you’ll need to follow the step-by-step instructions to do it correctly. So, now that everything is clear, let’s get started:

image.png

Step by step

  • Play "Campaign Mode": This is the first thing you should do, since this is where you'll get most of the "Regular Card" cards from the Foundations set. This is the essential starting point for saving a lot of time and resources.

  • Go to the Market: The next thing I would do—and recommend you do—is go to the market with a few dollars and buy the cards you don’t have from the “SET,” obviously in the standard foil version, so you can complete your deck and then compete without any issues and fully prepared. This is the most important part. By doing this, you’ll save a ton of time, since some of the new players will likely be playing 100% for free, and you’ll already have a big advantage over them.

  • Complete the daily quests (Required): This is the final step, but it’s the most important one of all, since this is where the “consistency” I’ve been talking about throughout this post comes into play. This means that if you win 5 battles a day, you can earn a Foundations card, a Frontier Entry, and receive 1 to 4 exclusive cards—available only to those who complete the daily challenges—with a drop rate of up to 2%, which is pretty good.

Conclusion

With all this in mind, you’ll find it easier to compete in the “Frontier” format, which, while designed for novice players, is a fairly comprehensive—and, if you will, complex—game mode. Even though you play with just one SET, strategy and the order in which you play your cards are crucial to winning.

So tell me, are you playing “Frontier Mode” and not sure how to get started? If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment on this post.
