Escalation Presale Countdown and Edition Preview

It is just two days away from the start of the Escalation presale, the Conclave Arcana mini set, which is the most anticipated presale in Splinterlands.

Players are already preparing with their SPS because of the discount being offered. Initially, I thought SPS would have reached at least 0.01, but unfortunately, the current market downtrend has made things messy. It also seems that only players who are already involved in Splinterlands are participating in this presale.

A major price pump may only happen if new users without SPS begin buying the token. However, we can never really tell what will happen in the coming days once the presale begins.

Certain factors could still cause SPS to pump.

One of these is the Escalation presale leaderboard, which offers some great prizes that could tempt players. Some players who already hold SPS may not have enough to compete for the leaderboard, which could increase demand for SPS and potentially lead to a price increase.

Secondly, some players who need SPS might be waiting for the presale to begin before they start buying.

It is disheartening to see SPS drop from above 0.08 to 0.07 following Bitcoin's crash, but I remain hopeful about what the coming days may bring.

Cards reveal

Some of these cards are quite similar to older cards. A good example is Ironcoil Bulwark from the Escalation set and Drybone Barbarian from the Chaos Legion edition.

The difference is that Ironcoil belongs to the Dragon Splinter, while Drybone belongs to the Life Splinter. Ironcoil has a large amount of armor, whereas Drybone has none. Additionally, Ironcoil has the Trample ability, making it stronger and more aggressive than Drybone.

However, when we talk about their similarities, both cards have the Enrage and Retaliate abilities. Their melee damage is also very high, with only a one-point difference between them.

Ironcoil Bulwark is a strong melee monster, but I’m not sure I will use it often as my main tank. However, it will be very useful in certain rulesets, such as the one that allows all melee monsters to attack from any position. It can also be placed in the last position during melee-only battles to fully utilize its Retaliate ability.

Emberscale Invoker

Another monster that has piqued my interest is Invoker. It belongs to the Fire Splinter and comes with four abilities: Snipe, Enrage, Phase, and Ambush.

The abilities I love the most are Snipe and Ambush, as they can make my snipe attacks even stronger. This combination could work very well alongside Kelan Gaines when using Lorkus to summon both Death and Fire monsters.

The Enrage ability makes this monster even more interesting, as any damage it receives increases its damage output and speed, making it more dangerous as the battle progresses.

We have zero-mana monsters for each Splinter, but I’m a bit disappointed with the bloodlines of these cards. For example, why does the Life Splinter zero-mana card belong to the Orc bloodline instead of Ulund? That would have made it truly awesome!

The zero-mana cards come with a new and unique ability called Bloodline Pact. This ability works as follows: allied units that share this unit’s bloodline gain +1 Power whenever any of them defeats an enemy and take 1 True Damage whenever any of them is defeated. However, when the zero-mana card itself is defeated, all allied units that share its bloodline take 2 damage and lose all Power gained from this ability.

I really love this ability, but I’m not a fan of the bloodlines chosen for these zero-mana cards. I guess the developers did this intentionally to avoid making them overpowered.

I can’t wait to try out these cards and all the others from the Escalation edition. February 24th is almost here!
