Why Holozing is different (better) compared to other projects!

Source

Hello everyone!

It has been a while that I wrote about Holozing. Partly because in real life got quite busy before the Holidays and partly because the time I had to write articles went nearly completely to the WOO project as I was participating in their online Zealy competition which required quite some content creation. As their Zealy came to an end and I still got some days of holidays left, I will try to write a couple of Holozing-themed articles as I think there is a lot to tell about this project. Today, I want to emphasize why Holozing is different compared to other gaming projects. There are plenty of reasons and I'll try to describe and motivate them as good as I can. Because I think it's important to know what kind of a gem we have here, being built on Hive!

Strong team

I won't tag the team as I think it doesn't add value for them being tagged here. But just place an @ before their name and you'll be able to find them on the Hive blockchain. But now, let's talk about who is the team behind this relatively new project on Hive:

acidyo - Founder, Game Design Lead

He's the founder of Holozing. Probably you know him from the OCD curation initiative, which is one of and probably the biggest curation initiatives on the Hive Blockchain which aims to reward original content to up user retention of Hivians. Besides OCD, he runs POSH as well. Another great project which aims to bring in web2 users to Hive through Proof Of Sharing. Although it had a hiccup as Twitter changed its API rules a couple of months ago. Besides these projects, acidyo is an active blogger about a variety of topics and is around in different other projects as well. Definitely a great guy!

Gamesuper Blame (not on Hive) - Game Networking Engineer

Blame is an experienced game developer with over 8 years of experience. So far he has created different 2D and 3D games of which he even helped in several large-scale online games powered by blockcahin technology. His experience is helping the team immensely!

rishi556 - Back-end developer and Hive integration

Rishi is quite a phenomen on Hive as well. He has helped developing in several projects, runs a witness node and is already over 5years on the Hive blockchain, I think it's already nearly 5,5years which is quite impressive in my opinion. He's an experienced system and network developer so definitely another great addition to the team!

asgarth - Blockchain developer

He's an experienced Full Stack web3 developer of several projects on the Hive blockchain. He's the co-founder as well of PeakD and Peakmonsters, projects you'll probably know. Besides these projects, he has worked on several other projects as well, so yes, another heavy-weight in terms of development on the Hive blockchain!

jfuji - Content and Game Design

If you're quite active on the Hive blockchain, you'll probably have seen this guy passing by as well. He's present in several projects, WOO, Scholar and scribe, Pixels... to name a few. With his background in professional writing and marketing, jfuji he has definitely helped the several projects he's linked with in terms of marketing and creative communication!

rubencress - Creative director

Another 'ancient' of the Hive blockchain. He is already here for over 5years as well. That's definitely a great achievement! He's a professional photographer and creative director who aims to bring some fantastic creatures and an awesome world to Holozing!

hiddenblade - Art

She is an experienced artist in terms of blockchain art. Her love for art in combination with blockchain technology already started in 2018 which made her one of the pioneers in blockchain art!

strawhat - Game and level Design

Strawhat is an experienced level designer who has played tons of different games and designed several as well. Besides that, he's the founder of the biggest gaming community on Hive as well: HiveGamingCommunity which you probably already have heard of if you're a gamer wandering around on Hive.

mobbs - Music

A game without music, is like a bar without beer! Mobbs has composed music for several games, commercials and films. In terms of ancienity, he has been on Hive for over 6 years already where he has been publishing music education and reviews, as well as sharing various performances and composing for hive commercial videos.

As you could read in the descriptions of the different staff members, you could see that they all are really experienced in terms of utilizing Hive. Besides their experience on Hive, they all have other web3 experience as well while being professionals in their domain in 'real life' as well. Another important advantage they have, is their network on Hive. All these guys have several followers, most of them several thousands while having quite some influence on Hive. Holozing aims to bring in people from outside of Hive as well, but in my opinion this will be easier if your base on Hive is already existant. This definitely differentiates them from other existing projects being created on the Hive blockchain!

Utilizing the community

Holozing is engaging with its community in several ways. Ofcourse they have created the C/Holozing community on Hive which is the home of everyone interested in the Holozing project. You can find a lot of fan art and articles like this one there. The official articles are posted in the community as well. Solely having a community on Hive definitely isn't differentiating from other communities as every project has its tag and community. But Holozing is doing more.

They are funding their project in a clever way. They are paying out a large sum of $ZING to their delegators. At the moment of writing, they have about 3.400.000 Hive Power delegated to them. This is a tremendous amount of Hive Power they can utilize to farm curation rewards. Other projects often rely on issuing card packs or having founding capital, Holozing is utilizing the Hive blockchain and its community to build up curation rewards and have funding for their project. This is definitely a great idea in my opinion!

Hive has several creatives on its blockchain, of which a couple are already part of the Holozing staff team. But there are plenty more, Holozing is organizing several contests to find people with great artistic capacities. A couple of weeks ago, there was a contest about designing the backgrounds for the initial starters of which the naming was another contest as well. I think that these engaging contests are a great way to build connections with your community while benefiting your project as well as you get inspiration from way more people than just the staff.

I am sure Holozing is going to organize plenty of other contest in the (near) future as well, so definitely stay tuned for more official posts from @holozing regarding upcoming competitions!

Transparency

Yes, I know that all projects on the Hive blockchain are on the blockchain which could be reviewed by everyone who wants to do so. So yes, in a certain way, every project has some transparency. But Holozing is actively posting financial reports. This is another element differentiating them from other projects in my opinion. When I invest in stocks, I always check out the balance sheet and the income statement. When I started dipping my toes on Hive, it astonished me that there isn't such information available about projects. Ofcourse, you can check their wallets and even check out every transaction, but that would take quite some time. I would do that merely as an audit to check specific elements than to create an overview.

Holozing is publishing every now and than a financial report. This is definitely something I like as I can see what they are doing with their funds. Ofcourse they can tell us anything they want to tell us BUT as said, we could utilize it to find the details afterwards on the blockchain ourselves.

I won't go into much more detail about their financial reports now, as I'll probably analyze them in a future blogpost. It would bring me to far away from the main topic of today in my opinion.

Fast paced development

When we look at their roadmap, the project 'started' in October 2023 while aiming to have their public release already available in Q2 2024. If you ask me, that's rather fast development. Ofcourse a roadmap is just a roadmap and nothing is certain if the milestones will be met, BUT still, even if they end up delivering a fully playable alpha version of their game by end of 2024, I think it would be an amazing result. As most projects in web3, they already delayed several milestones, as could be read in this article from 10 days ago, so we'll see what the future brings. But personally I believe they will deliver an amazing game rather fast. The fact that they have several very experienced developers in their team will definitely help them!

Conclusion

Holozing definitely is an exciting project on the Hive blockchain which is in my eyes differentiating themselves on several aspects from other new or already existing games. It's something I will definitely keep my eye on and follow from close by as 2024 will be an exciting year for Holozing. When I look at their C/Holozing community, I am definitely not the only one keeping an eye on their project, as already nearly 700 persons subscribed to it!

Thanks for reading!

Disclaimer: I utilized the dividers of @saydie, he explained we could freely use them, but wanted to thank him explicitly atleast once! Thank you! Ps: I won't tag you always when I use them, but figured out I had to do so atleast once!
