The peony and its little helper./ Die Pfingstrose und ihr kleiner Helfer.

Have a wonderful day everyone! During the Whitsun period, I would like to tell you something about the peony. Anyone who has ever seen this fragrant sprouting flower in bloom will have realised how wondrous it is. Its dense, wide buds with many individual curved or less curved petals in different colours always attract ants, even when they are still closed. I have often wondered what the ants are doing there and whether it is a pest infestation.
In fact, the ants fulfil an important function for the peony. They secrete a secretion that makes the flower bloom so splendidly. These little helpers help the peony to achieve its full splendour. It is fascinating to see how this symbiotic relationship between plant and ants works.

Einen wunderschönen Tag euch allen! In der Pfingstzeit möchte ich euch etwas über die Pfingstrose erzählen. Wer diese duftend sprießende Blume schon einmal blühen sah, wird gemerkt haben, wie wundersam sie ist. Ihre dichten, weiten Knospen mit vielen einzelnen geschwungenen oder weniger geschwungenen Blütenblättern in unterschiedlichen Farben ziehen immer Ameisen an, selbst wenn sie noch geschlossen sind. Ich habe mich oft gefragt, was die Ameisen dort wohl machen, und ob es sich um einen Schädlingsbefall handelt.
Tatsächlich übernehmen die Ameisen eine wichtige Funktion für die Pfingstrose. Sie sondern ein Sekret ab, das die Blüte überhaupt so prachtvoll blühen lässt. Diese kleinen Helfer verhelfen der Pfingstrose zu ihrer vollen Pracht. Es ist faszinierend zu sehen, wie diese symbiotische Beziehung zwischen Pflanze und Ameisen funktioniert.

It is like so many things in nature: either it is fully harmonious and compatible, or it seems unnatural and mutually repulsive. The saying goes: "Everything that is against nature destroys itself." I think that really is the case. Acting against your own nature leads to a self-destructive process that you will realise sooner or later.
This reminds me of the sentence from the Bible: "And God created man in his own image." Since God is, among other things, spirit, he created us according to his spirit. For me, this is the natural structure. Nevertheless, many people decide against this nature. But that should not be the main topic - it only serves as an example.

Es ist wie so vieles in der Natur: Entweder ist es voll harmonisch und kompatibel, oder es wirkt unnatürlich und stößt sich gegenseitig ab. Dabei passt der Spruch: „Alles, was gegen die Natur ist, vernichtet sich selbst.“ Ich denke, das ist wirklich so. Ein Handeln gegen die eigene Natur führt zu einem selbstzerstörenden Prozess, den man auf kurz oder lang bemerken wird.
Mich erinnert das an den Satz aus der Bibel: „Und Gott schuf den Menschen nach seinem Bilde.“ Da Gott unter anderem Geist ist, schuf er uns nach seinem Geist. Für mich ist das die natürliche Struktur. Dennoch entscheiden sich viele Menschen gegen diese Natur. Aber das soll nicht das Hauptthema sein – es dient nur als Beispiel.

I only hope that in such human processes, a helper will come from somewhere to restore the natural symbiosis and harmonise the nature of the individual. With this in mind, I wish you a wonderful time with fragrant flowers and enchanting landscapes at Whitsun. See you next time. 💚
