I got this Terrarium as just a jar along with 3 tiny little plants, some stones and coal for filtration almost a year ago!
At first there really wasn't much to look at, the plants seemed to stagnant and never grow, I thought I had too much water in there so for a while I aired it out to evaporate some moisture. I then added some moss all over the floor of the jar to add some colour and just, "something else" to the ecosystem. 😅
Within a few weeks everything started to grow beautifully and in harmony, each plant is thriving! I sooner added a vial worth of springtails. They're incredibly good at maintaining the health of the ecosystem within the terrarium once its shut for good!
Once I decided the jar is fine how it is, I decided to not open it again. In the coming weeks and months, endless little flies seemed to grow, die and repeat the cycle on and on and on.
up until about a month ago- I saw two or three little worms moving around the glass, I'm sure they got in there through eggs in the soil I must have used, but its incredible how they somehow hatched almost 9 months into my terrariums life cycle.
Ever since they've been making a muck over my glass! hence the dirt everywhere the eye can see 😂 the plants have all tripled in size and grow more and more everyday! the springtails are still thriving to this day also. I wonder how many generations have passed within this jar.
Greetings @dubble ,
