Forgotten Inventions We Don't Use Today

Should I say it's funny or strange how the world has moved on from some things that were once quite popular and at the peak of innovation years back? Some were so in trend, hyped, and even considered to be life-changing, but today they're nowhere to be found or forgotten about? These inventions are what I often regard as lost legends, and in this article I'll be talking about some of them, memories about their usage, and much more, so without further ado, let's get to them one after another.

The pager: I remember back in the days between when we started having smartphones and messaging apps, what most people used back then was a pager, also known as a beeper. It's a device that's used to send messages to others, and I remember when I was much younger I used to see my watch in Nollywood and Hollywood movies where they were being used, especially by doctors, which were clipped to their belt and often made a beep sound when someone sent a message. Nowadays it's no longer in use, and I doubt most new generations will know its purpose if they were to see it today.

Floppy Disk(Diskette): During my elementary school days, I remember when we were being taught about storage devices under computer studies. One of the devices being used as an example was the floppy disk. Understandably, it doesn't have the storage capacity most storage devices have now, but then it's strange how it has completely disappeared. Being a teacher myself, I wanted to use it as an example for my students and tried to purchase one for instructional aids but couldn't find any. It's quite strange how it has not only lost its spot in being regularly used for saving documents but also is not being used at all.

Sunca rechargeable lamp, radio, mosquito repellent, cassette player: During the 90s, this was probably one of the most popular household appliances. a state-of-the-art invention that serves as an answer to many demands of an average citizen,This device is rechargeable and has a lamp that shines bright in darkness, a radio that connects you with the outside world, a cassette player that helps you listen to music, and to cap it up, a mosquito repellent halogen lamp that safeguards you and your family. I remember using it to listen to matches broadcasted on the radio back then and also to read since it's common for us to not have a power supply.

Walkman and Cassette Tape: During my childhood, one of those devices we used to do big boy in the hood was a Walkman. Owning one was every young man's dream back then; you just walked around with the Walkman or portable cassette tape in your pocket and a headphone to your ear as you walked around vibing to popular musicians music such as Plantation Boys, Tony Tetuila, P Squad, Styl-Plus, and the likes. Fast forward to present day, our smartphone has taken over, and we now stream music online, unlike then, via cassette, that you could even use your pen to rewind songs manually.

There are several other inventions and inventors that we no longer use or remember today, but then it's good to appreciate them for what they made and the impact it had on life back then. I didn't mention the typewriter, public payphone booth, and several others. All of these inventions remind me of how far we've come and how creative we humans can be.

Uh, I thought to see some other inventions like the ones from Ighina or Agartha. That would have been of huuuuuge interest for the community

Oh those are great inventions from ighina, from the weather control machine to magnetic atom machine, not sure I've heard of Agartha or any of his inventions, but I'd look it up.
