3Speak issues and Discussion, Gambling Apps on Hive, Taxes, etc. .:. Recap of Hive Humpday Hangout SE #09 (Wednesday, October 30, 2024)
I know guys that we are missing the previous two show's recap posts and recordings, but I'm still waiting for 3Speak to sort out their issues... When the upload option is available, I will publish both missing shows, episodes 30 and 31... I have already edited both videos and prepared them for publishing... Also, both descriptions/written posts are ready in drafts, and LEN tokens for participation are already sent too! I'm sorry that you have to wait so long for recordings, but they are worth waiting as both shows were amazing! You don't want to miss them... :)

In the meantime, we had the third show, but this one is one of the "Special Edition" series, and that means that it was not recorded on purpose! In these shows, there is no script or "pre-arranged" topic for the show as participants come up with them live, in the show... We had no idea what would be the topic for this one, but in the end, we had a few of them and we had a great discussion with different views and opinions... Exactly as we like it!
At the beginning of the show, as I mentioned 3Speak issues, we had a discussion about it... @jza was talking about onboarding people in Cuba to 3Speak as they were looking for some alternatives to YouTube and other mainstream platforms... The main issue is the high minimum payment amount that many creators never reach... By using 3Speak, that can be avoided... I was expecting that taking out money from crypto is a problem in Cuba, but to my surprise, @jza explained that it isn't...
We went back to the 3Speak discussion and their current business model... Whether it is sustainable or not, and in those moments @felixxx joined the discussion too, comparing 3Speak with YouTube, or with other similar platforms on HIVE... @duskobgd threw in the idea about the subscription model as one of the monetary solutions for 3Speak, so we talked a bit about that too...
After the "swiss-knife" view of HIVE that @felixxx explained, somehow, we dived into the huge discussion about betting and gambling websites on HIVE... Could they work and why we don't have more of them? Here we got another Hivian joining the discussion, as @quekery shared his views about it... Also, he mentioned a couple of existing betting websites on HIVE...
Closer to the end of the show, the discussion led to the talk about taxes around the globe, firstly in Germany, but also in other countries... Does anyone know how crypto should be taxed, and in the end, why would it be? 🙂 For the end, we were left the open question by @felixxx:
"Why do we pay taxes if they are printing the money whenever there is a need to do it?"
We had 13 people in the show (including myself), some of them came for just a few minutes, while the majority were there the whole show! It's not that they weren't profitable for the last few months, so I doubt that that is the reason... I really hope that they will solve the issue, as HIVE without 3Speak wouldn't be the same...
That's why the government want to tax crypto by all means. They know people will see it as a getaway, and since they can't control it why not make money off of it?

Yeah, that was exactly what I pointed out in the show... By taxing crypto, they had to "accept" crypto as reality... I know that it sounds weird, but that was a positive side of crypto taxes... 😃
The Governments are so greedy, they are never satisfied they only keep wanting more, and to throttle any attempt for the common man to be free.
Let them take their eyes off of Crypto!

I think it should vary from country to country. Just like stocks, or real estate, or income. Different countries have different rules. If you live in the country, I guess the only way is to abide by the rules. Haha.

I will never pay taxes on crypto earnings. Crypto is supposed to be the way outside of the system, so why would I give in to those extortion fees?

Yeah, it's absolutely fucking ridiculous is what it is.
That's why I build stuff without a license, hunt and fish without a license, drive as little as possible, fly as little as possible, and really do nothing but stay on our family farm, which gets taxed enough as it is, and do whatever the hell I want. Oh and I stopped filing income taxes, because most of it is in crypto anyway. They can fuck right off, lol.

It sounds like an interesting idea. I wonder if 3speak is sustainable or profitable. I think they do get a portion of the video posts that get published on that end. So I am not sure unless they throw out more information on that end.
3Speak has 10% beneficiary rewards, but with this number of videos published, I doubt it is enough to be sustainable... But it could be if HIVE would grow and we had more video content creators.
The government should think of ways to make the masses comfortable not over burdening them.
That is how it SHOULD be... Unfortunately, they are burdening people... :(
