The Day My Heels πŸ‘  Broke and Took My Confidence Away- LOH Contest #274.

(edited)

This prompt took me back to an old embarrassing memory and also reminds me of an old favorite picture, I took a few years back. You will get to know why it brought these memories by the time you are done reading this post.
This is a memory I have long forgotten, it happened three years ago , that day was extremely embarrassing to me, it was the most embarrassing day of my life , that day I wished I could vanish or the ground could just swallow me for a while and by the time I'm back everyone must have left the church hall. I hope you enjoy my ANECDOTE

It was a bright Sunday morning, as a student who love ushering job, I was one of the ushers in my school church. I enjoyed ushering in church because it gave me a chance to maintain orderliness and smile at people for a reason, regardless of the fact that I rarely smile.
As a lady in the ushering department, I have to wear heels to church more often, especially Sundays, I have always loved heels , so stepping on heels haven't been an issue until that particular day, that day the worse decided to happen.

As usual, we were appointed to our different positions and advised on how to control the crowd coming to church by our leader. I was appointed to stand at the middle role , a position that everyone in the audience could see.
As usual my duty was going on smoothly, I was looking all good for the Sunday, with a bright makeup on, corporate attire and my heels on .
If someone had told me that I was going to be embarrassed in the middle of a hall , where more than hundred students were seated , I would have doubted the person vehemently.

The order of service was going smoothly, students kept coming in, and I kept directing them to their chairs, respectively. I was also enjoying the service and smiling, we all know how important it's to smile as an usher, especially a female usher.
It was time for the sunday sermon which was going to last for an hour and I needed to move forward and take a sit at the back while monitoring the crowd , just immediately I took a step above the stairs my heel broke and the sound was loud too and I fell down on the floor helplessly.
At that point I couldn't move forward or backwards, I just sat at same spot I fell , with my head down, all eyes on me, I could sense and feel it , I was in pains too , because my leg bent , my ankles hurts and I fell on a hard tile, I wished I had the power to vanish and find myself in my room, but I unfortunately I couldn't.

The few seconds I sat was like hell to me, and enduring the pain in my ankles wasn't easy and I couldn't scream loud, immediately some gentlemen walked up to me and helped me gently to the back, where I was nursed and taken care of .
I was grateful people came for me , because walking alone would have been a walk of shame, I never saw that experience coming, my heels wasn't shaking before I wore it that morning.
The heel I'm wearing on the second picture above is the picture of the heel that embarrassed me and almost damaged my ankle.

Writing this post just made me laugh, but when it occurred it wasn't something to laugh about, well the experience didn't stop me from wearing heels or being an usher though, but it made me much conscious while walking on heels, especially when I have to climb stairs.
My experience was really embarrassing and funny, because I laughed at myself and others did too, but I got proper care from everyone around me that day and that taught me to care for others if I find them in such situation.

This is my response to this week LOH prompt:

What happened to you can happen to anyone wearing heels. While I was reading your post and you mentioned that you fell and stayed put, I was wondering, "Didn't anyone help you?" But it did happen. It's unpleasant, but nothing to be ashamed of. I'm glad this stumble didn't discourage you from serving in the church and that it taught you how to wear heels safely. It was a pleasure reading your post. Good luck in the contest. Blessings πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ
