Finding the Courage to Walk Away From Abuse - #280

(edited)

The craziest fact about the victims of abuse is the way they gradually believe and condition their mind to believe that it's a normal occurrence, the way they get use to being abused and distance from those who love and advise them genuinely, they ignore the pains and even give excuses for the abusers actions and the most painful part to me is the certainty they have that an abuser will change in the future.
Tolerating abuse can cause severe mental damage, because it supresses one, make them a shadow of themselves.
Yes, I have tolerated abusive behavior in the past, not physical abuse but emotional and verbal abuse, I went through this without opening up, I was meant to believe control was love and hoped everything will get better, but rather it became worse by the day.

The reason I endured emotional abuse was simply, low self esteem, seeking validation from the wrong person, and trying to please another person, this is the reason I always teach girls to love and appreciate themselves and stop seeking validation from people, love shouldn't be so stressful.
When you feel you aren't enough, it give chances to an abusers and that's what they feed on, abusers feed on fear, low self esteem and timidity and I gave room to fear, timidity and low self esteem.

Manipulation, the power to control and the satisfaction from humiliating others is the typical character of an abuser and I dealt this and for some crazy reasons I was unable to see all these as a flaw.
I was manipulated into thinking I had a problem and I'm the cause of constant issues, manipulated into thinking love is control, anyone who truly love me should control every aspect of my life, finally realized that was a lie , love is appreciation, mutual respect, freedom and peace.

I handled abuse by being confident and having total control of my life back, protected my emotions at all cost and most important was setting boundaries,a very defined boundary.
I found the Courage to walk away from abuse and regained confidence.
Opening up to family and friends also helped me handle abuse and made me regained my confidence again. I protected my peace and never gave room for abuse again. Nobody deserves any form of abuse.

This is my response to this week LOH prompt:

Have you ever tolerated abusive behavior from someone close to you due to social pressure? If so, how did you handle it?

Picture is mine.

Thanks for reading ♥️

I'm so glad you were able to get out of that abusive relationship. Manipulators are everywhere, and sadly, they get away with the harm they cause. HUGS
