The dumbest thing someone has ever done to win me over was to buy me a Crocs slippers without him feeling sorry about why he did, It was seriously so strange because he thought gifting me without genuinely apologising could win me over.
So this whole thing started after we had an issue, and when I say issue, I mean something that actually needed a proper apology, not the type of apology where someone will just be forming attitude and acting like they are doing you a favour by talking to you again, No. this one required accountability, but instead of that, this guy decided that what I needed was… footwear.

One day he just showed up with a nylon bag and handed it to me, I was even confused at first because I wasn’t expecting anything, when I opened it, I saw Crocs slippers inside, my first reaction was not even excitement, it was confusion, ehn...I was like… wait… is this supposed to replace “I’m sorry”?
And truly, he didn’t even say sorry. Not one word, he was just smiling somehow, like someone that had solved a big problem, In his mind, he probably thought, “Once she sees this gift, everything will just reset.” Ahn ahn ...
But me, I collected it sha. Let me not lie, the slippers were fine and at that point I just didn’t even have the energy to argue again, so I accepted it, but the main issue was still there. Because gifts don’t replace communication, If you offend someone, talk about it, Own it, don’t just bring material things and expect emotions to magically disappear.
The funniest part of the whole story is what happened later.
After like one month of me wearing the slippers normally, this same guy came back to collect them, yes. You read that correctly, he actually asked for the Crocs back, at first I thought he was joking, I even laughed, but he was serious.
I was like, “Wait… you are collecting gift? After I have worn it for weeks?”
Apparently, because things didn’t go the way he expected between us, he felt entitled to retrieve his investment, that moment was when I realised that some people don’t actually give from a genuine place, they give with expectations attached, like a transaction, and once the expected result doesn’t happen, they want a refund.
I will not even lie, I laughed tire that day, because what else could I do? The situation was too ridiculous to even be angry, imagine explaining to someone that yes, a grown man collected slippers back after gifting you, people will think you’re joking.
Looking back now, itis still one of the dumbest and funniest experiences I have had, not because of the Crocs itself, but because of the mindset behind it. Relationships and emotions don’t work like business deals you can not replace apology with gifts and expect everything to be fine.
But at least I got a good story out of it… even if I did not get to keep the slippers.

That guy really has issues 😅 He must have thought, why did he give you those Cross shoes, or rather, lend them to you? 😂🤣 It's great that you took it all in stride and even laughed. It was a pleasure reading your post. Good luck in the contest. Blessings 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Lol.
A lend indeed
I don't even know what was going on in his mind

Wow! What was he thinking?! I'm not sure I would have given them back to him at all. I would have to say he might not have success with relationships if that's what he does to all of the ladies in his life.
