Ladies of Hive Community Contest #299: Friends to Siblings...

QUESTION: Tell us about a memorable friendship experience that made you realize you had found someone who would always have your back. What did they do that left such a lasting impression on you, and how has that friendship changed your view about life?

😍
I have two best friends who have become two of the most important people in my life. I'm an only child, but with them, I found a brother and a sister.

They've done many things not only for me, but also for my family, so I don't consider them just friends or best friends. They're basically my siblings.

One of the most recent and memorable experiences that made me realize that they always have my back was last November 2025.

At that time, our area was flooded, so we had to evacuate. My father wasn't around because he was stranded on another island. And the first person I contacted was my male best friend, Arniel.

My mom and our two dogs were already outside trying to find shelter along with our other neighbors. I could contact him, but the signal was so crappy. My mom, our fur babies, and I went with our neighbor to her son's place around 10 minutes away on foot because that area was much safer.

I lost contact with my best friend, but he found us. He drove to our old place, asked people around while walking in the flood himself, and found us! Then, he assisted my mom and me to get to our landlady's place, so we could find shelter. If we didn't have other options back then, he was ready to take us in at his parents' house.

He helped us settle in the temporary place by driving us and providing us with stuff because my mom and I couldn't bring anything. He also went with me to our house to get some stuff we could still use. He even couldn't take his wife to her workplace that day because we were his priority. Luckily, his wife's company provided them with transportation.

And later that night, he brought us other stuff like blankets... and also clean water, both for drinking and cleaning ourselves up because we were flood dirty the whole day and there was no water available.

My female bestie, on the other hand, lives in the US. But she was worried about us and contacted us as well. For sure, if she were in the country at that time, she'd offer her roof for us to stay as well.

She supported us differently... We didn't have anything, so she sent us some financial help to start. We used it to buy the things we needed at that time. And she usually sends us messages asking how we are, even though she's on the opposite side of the world.

I also lost my source of income at that time because my computer was soaked in flood water and my laptop was washed away. When she knew of this, she and her husband gave me an early Christmas gift, which is a laptop... It's the same one I'm using now for work and creating this blog.

It made me realize even more that friends are the family we choose ourselves, and you should never take them for granted.

My family and I now live in the countryside... and my male best friend also helped us during our move. I hope to spend time with them again someday.

That's it for now. See you around! (^^,)/
