JUST LIKE THAT. LOH #291

I am someone that likes finding out how things work, and figuring out how to fix them. I also enjoy DIY videos and I usually try them out.

IMG-20260227-WA0001.jpg

There was this particular video saw where they used a magnet from a speaker to create electricity. Here's how it worked; after collecting the speaker, they wound a strip of copper wire around it creating a coil. Then they connected four spark plugs and somehow it was able to produce enough electricity to power a light bulb.

After watching the video several times, I thought to myself, "I can actually do this". And if I was able to make it work, I had already thought of how I would monitize it.

In my country Nigeria, power is still a challenge and people that have access to it are living lives differently. The people that actually have access to uninterrupted power are the majority and they have to have more than one source, at least two.

Me seeing the potential of producing power with a couple of everyday things, I thought to make it into a power bank that can be sold cheaper than thr ones that use lithium batteries, or so I thought. With that thought and excitement, I used some money from my savings and bought a couple of spark plugs (they were not cheap), some length of wire, and some magnets from a repair shop and went to work with the video as my guide.

After setting everything up as I saw in the video, it was not time for the moment of truth. I connected the light bulb and voilà! It didn't work. I thought I did something wrong and tried to set it up again but I got the same result. I watched the video again and again to see where I got it wrong but I couldn't find it, so I gave up.

It was after a few days that I decided to ask a chat bot about it and I found out that the fault was mine. But the most important part was that there was no way such a device could charge a phone sustainability.

There went my money and my hopes of making money out of something I should have just viewed a d moved on.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. See you soon. 🤗

peace out ✌️

What a great initiative! The important thing is that you tried. It was a pleasure reading your post.

😂.
Well it's good that you still tried it out sha in my opinion

Sometimes the things you see on social media are not as simple as they make it look, else imagine everyone like you trying it out and it really working...

But then again, it's good you tried it out, at least you know it doesn't works. What if it worked, you wouldn't know if you hadn't tried.

But also understand that you will also need a certain knowledge in physics to be able to fully understand the mechanics of power generation, if something isn't possible in theory, it likely isn't possible in practical...

A case of, "Too good to be true."
I do have a camping grill that burns wood fixed to a diElectric charging system as my backup means of cooking meals for emergency use called, 'Biolite'. It has a little USB output to charge my device. It cost me quite a bit, not exactly approved for my countries standards but it works great.

Even though it didn't work, I would like to applaud you for taking such a brave initiative. Maybe you can use those materials to create something else... Thanks for sharing...

Even though the experiment didn't work out as you planned, I did not see it as a total failure. At least, you have gained experience and knowledge that you didn't have before. That curiosity that moved you to try, may one day, move you into doing more research and coming up with creating something even better than what you have originally created.

You're welcome

It's a bummer that your experiment cost you quite a bit of money. But I love that you were willing to try something new to figure out if it would work. I reckon if you keep trying small experiments then one day you'll build something truly excellent!
