Friendship Has No Gender—LOH#299

Well, in all honesty, one of the things I grew up hearing is that women hardly stay loyal to one another. You know, various stuff like... females are always envious and jealous of each other, gossip, cause unnecessary drama, and also leak each other's secrets when they have misunderstandings. Honestly, because it was what I'd see and hear while growing up, I accepted it as the truth and saw all females that way. But then, life can be funny at times; it corrected me by making me meet women and see a completely different thing from what I grew up believing.

I know of two female friends, Blessing and Bella. They are just so different; both of them are actually best of friends, and I'm always amazed at the way they talk, handle misunderstandings, joke, and all of that. They've been staying together for over eight years now, and they are still close. Blessing happens to be my own best friend too. Would talk a little more about her towards the end of this piece.

Now, one thing about me is that most of my friends are females. Some even believed I acted girlish because I've been influenced by the female companies I keep. Being around females has opened my eyes to a lot of things; there are things I've learned and unlearned about and from them. And I'm grateful for each and every female friend of mine.

I think it's best to chip this in too; I'm serving as the president of my CDS group at the moment. Immediately I was made the president; one of the things I introduced was to do awareness programs once or twice a month. The main focus of this program is to treat issues that concern and affect school students (females especially).

Each time we go for this program and I do the introduction before inviting in who to give the lecture, or I do the wrapping up at the end, my female colleague does wonder how I know so much about the topic. And the truth is, after spending years surrounded by good female friends, I've had the chance to listen to them, learn from them, understand their experiences, and know about their mood swings, cramps, and the like. And all of those put together have helped me not just admire, but love and respect females.

Talking of a friendship that has really changed me, here is where Blessing comes back in. I remember writing a write-up some months back titled; Blessing Is A Blessing. And indeed Blessing is a blessing; she's more of a family to me, she's stood by me during my darkest times, she's helped me even when there's nothing in it for her, she encourages me, she celebrates me, and I also love how she often checks in on me since we are now a little far away. We've known each other for over ten years now.

Another person I would love to mention is Dara; she's my ex, and I'm doing this intentionally because our relationship/friendship changed the way I see what a lot of people argue about being friends with an ex. I very well understand and agree that some exes are better left in the past, but then, life is not always black and white. I respect her so much; she got married just two weeks ago, and I'm genuinely happy for her. She carried me along, and I even helped her out with some of the wedding plans.

Even though I couldn't attend the wedding myself, my younger brother, who's also friends with her, represented me and delivered my gift. It's been over four years since we broke up now, and we've remained good friends. None of us has ever brought up the past since the day we broke up.

People like Blessing, Dara, and the many amazing women in my life have changed the old belief I have about female friendships. I've not just heard but also seen, experienced, and benefited from their loyalty, love, care, concern, and support. One thing about good friendships is that they know no gender. Good friendship is being built by people who have chosen to stay, to love, to support, and to understand each other without keeping score.

Good friendship as you said knows no gender , and the truth is that some females can actually be rough, but then that's not friendship, maybe it's something else, true friends shouldbt be envious of themselves or what what.
Your friends are cool and I like that, I do have special friends in my life too. Ones that are true
