LET’S EVOLVE TOGETHER #273

When it comes to learning, I have come to understand that everyone has a way of assimilating new things, and the best way to keep up in this ever changing world is to stick to one thing and grow in it as it evolves. Almost everything is evolving and one of the many reasons we are left behind is often because we are distracted trying to meet up with a lot of things. But if we can decide to focus on one thing, be disciplined in it and grow in it, it will be easier to evolve in an ever changing world. This is why it looks like the people succeeding might not know everything or be as intelligent as you but they do very well in what they do.

I think one of the things that kills us is our intelligence, it kills us when we strive to know and only apply very little. At the end of the day we end up not knowing anything other than the theoretical knowledge which is insufficient in this brutal world. The man who learns the work of a mechanic is far better than the man who spent four years in a Nigerian university studying mechanical engineering. One has theoretical knowledge, the other has practical knowledge. However for both to grow they must be able to find a balance, but the issue is oftentimes the mechanical engineer is too proud to come under practical tutoring and the mechanics knowledge will not be sufficient in the long run and both find themselves in an outdated loop.

But if both can focus and find a balance it would be easy for them to excel. FInding the balance is the key to evolving. For a young person it is easier to learn new things as you grow, for the old it is easier to add to the already existing knowledge coupled with the experience of years to excel. But what both need is the ability to practicalize what they have learned over and over again to become masters. So before you learn anything ask yourself how often will you be able to practicalize it, else it will just be occupying the space of something you would have been better at. Finding the balance is very key here.
