JUST ANOTHER DAY

I like celebrating people when I can, I believe it shows them how special they are to me. Right now I owe certain people in my life birthday presents, but then again, I love it when I can make them smile because of their special day. Celebration for me comes for a reason and this reason does not include birthdays and that is why I do not celebrate myself. If I am going to be celebrating my birthday for any reason, it would be because that year something spectacularly out of the ordinary happened for me to celebrate life.

My birthday scares me, it reminds me of how old I am getting and the tons of things I am yet to do. This realization makes me sober and that is why I always ask for quiet moments during my birthday. I see it as a time to reflect on how the year has been for me and then make new decisions that have the potential of changing my life. It is also a time I set new goals and make resolutions with the hope that the next birthday is even better. I will only celebrate after reflecting and discovering I am in a better place than I was a year ago.

The level of growth I have made would determine the level of celebration. From buying myself something special to inviting friends to celebrate. I have never intentionally invited friends to celebrate with me except the time I would never forget when my girlfriend gave me a surprise birthday celebration. She’s very good with those kinds of plans unlike me lol. Apart from that day, I have never really called people to celebrate with me for any birthday at all. But when it comes to celebrating with others, I would prefer to sit, plan and try to do something nice. But in a really long while I have been restrained from doing such, guess I need to start again lol.
