A GREAT PERSON

Anybody great at being a friend is a great person. I know this because I have met a number of people who really tried to be friends but always complain about their inability to really make friends. These people usually consider themselves good people until they get close to others and you just discover that they always seem to have issues with people that makes it hard for the friendship to continue. Usually when I talk with them, it’s never their fault, it is always the fault of others, but when you look closely and observe the pattern, you see that it is them who are unable to become great friends.

A great friend is never a perfect person, you might even have a lot of scores with them, but at the end of the day, they are that one person you can always go to even when things are heated up. For example, I remember when I was in dare need of an apartment, I had a lot of friends who even allowed me to squat with them for some time, then I was moving from house to house until I met a particular guy. We weren’t even friends then, he was just someone I knew in school, and I decided to ask not hoping for anything positive but trying my luck and seeing if he would allow me to squat with him for a month.

He declined, of which I was expecting, but later that day he called me to come saying he changed his mind. His house was even smaller than the houses of my other friends, and according to him, I could stay for as long as I wanted. At a point his house became my home. He never made me feel less or made me feel like I was a burden. In fact I was feeling that way and he made sure I never felt that way. This wasn’t because of me, it was because of how much of a great person he is.
