Lifting Others Up

The ride to my apartment today was very long. I couldn’t believe I spent a ridiculous amount of time on the road for a place I didn’t consider far.

Throughout my ride home, I thought about the words of a kind lady and the circumstances that prompted them.

I thought about the underprivileged people, the people who had no one to call, the people who had nothing to their names, and who wouldn’t be able to enjoy certain privileges until their time on earth was over. As sad as this was, this was the reality of many and the ones yet to come.

I got an opportunity to enjoy a rare privilege today, one I am yet to wrap my head around. Never in my life did I believe that I was going to experience such an opportunity because it seemed nearly impossible from the beginning.

While I was basking in the euphoria of what, to me was a very big miracle, a kind woman said something profound to me. She said, “You’re going to be up there soon, when you do, do not forget to carry others along with you”. The words stuck. Her words were simple and brief yet they conveyed a deep message.

I thought about this for a couple of minutes and I couldn’t help but smile, I smiled because someone understood the concept of supporting others, as not many understand this or could say it out loud.

You know, we get carried away in our own little bubble and we sometimes forget that there are people who aren’t as privileged as we are. What you consider normal or the bare minimum can be considered a luxury to the other person.

As we strive to be bigger and better and attain greater heights, let us not forget to extend a helping hand to others as the mind-blowing opportunities many can see only exist in their dreams.

Go get that position and impact lives! Be the reason someone's dream comes alive. You don’t need to be way up there or bear a fancy title; you just need to start from your little corner😃
