Dash of Mumour (LOH #221)

I already started laughing when I saw the first prompt because for sure I have things that make me laugh. First is Kdrama. Koreans are great at comedic movies and I recently started watching Strong Girl Bong-soon after much persuasion. I’m only one episode in and I can’t stop laughing.

Anyway movies and Anime. Anime! Gosh. Movies can’t do it like Anime can. Have you seen Ranma 1/2? The key moments are funny or even Spy x Family. My favorite character is Anya because she has the funniest expressions with her big round eyes! You can’t be in a bad mood after watching Anya.

Comics. Comics make me laugh. My go to these days is Love 4 A Walk. It has key moments that just make you wheeze with laughter. Lmao. I’m even laughing thinking about it but nothing makes me laugh as hard as my Mother’s wicked quips!

Have you lived with my mom? She’s the funniest character to me. She just says or does something that isn’t supposed to be funny but has you rolling over in laughter. Like last week she said, when she saw me in a child’s pose on my yoga mat,

“Don’t shroud the house in your bottom glory.”

She means my ass is fat and I shouldn’t fart. I couldn’t even maintain the position as I slumped over laughing. And then when my cousin joined in laughing she said,

“What are you laughing at? Your own has no sense of direction.”

Oh heavens! How can a butt have no sense of direction? I looked at my cousin who was bent over laughing and my oh my… that place is flat.

But that’s not all…

I and my cousin were discussing and then we slipped into the subject of men and how some of them have awesome chests. My mom’s voice came from the room,

“I have two men in this house. One is flat and the other has etito.” (Igbo word meaning boil).

She calls me Etito because I have the smallest breasts in the family. Every other lady is blessed with Ds or Double Ds and I’m a very small C. Then my cousin came and it’s safe to say I’m not the smallest at all.

I couldn’t stop laughing. Neither could my cousin. We laughed until we were on the floor, wheezing for breath.

Reminds me of when my mom tried making fun of my head and I reminded her that she has head like a plate of Abacha (lovingly of course) and this woman turned her slippers into a weapon. I didn’t even see it coming… it zapped past my eyes like an arrow and I didn’t even wait, I quickly left my desk and ran out of the house with this woman hot on my heels. That was comedy. I remember and laugh. We both laugh.

So, my mom makes me laugh a lot. Talking to her and just gossiping is fun. Anyone who doesn’t know us will think my mom is harsh with her words but she just has unadulterated sarcastic humour. I remember when she saw a guy I was dating back then.

My mom looked at him, really looked at him and smiled and complimented his looks (because gaddamit! That man was fine as heck) but when we were alone, she asked me if I would go through CS.

“What do you mean?” I asked

“I mean are you ready to go through the scissors when you give birth?”

In my legit confusion, “but why are we talking about that when I’m just 20?”

“That man has big head. There’s no way you can take pushing that man’s child.”

If your jaw dropped, mine flew. And one thing with my mom is, she won’t say things like that if she’s not comfortable with you or likes you. She’s only that way with people she lets into her space. If not, she’s polite to a fault and full of smiles with you. I love her a lot!

Anyway, I’ll stop here. Those are my laughing medicines. Haha.
