Those who have been following me for quite some time know how much I hated cooking last year. Not because I didn’t know how to cook, it just wasn’t something I was interested in. But in the beginning of this year, my mom told me something that got me reconsidering that hatred for cooking.
She explained she enjoys cooking for me because I am her baby but someday, I’ll have to cook for my babies so it’s important to enjoy doing it now if not, I’ll find it hard to do it in some years to come.
In fact, she even said that the secret recipe for cooking is love. The food you’re cooking always knows when you enjoy what you are doing or not and that will determine how nice the food will be. And I've actually confirmed it so many times.
Fast forward to today, my favorite thing I enjoy doing is cooking(just because I’m too busy to crochet). Did you just widen your eyes in shock? Do it again on my behalf because I equally can’t believe what I’m saying. But yeah, I now enjoy cooking. I never knew, apart from crocheting, I would even enjoy something else, not to talk of cooking.
I always saw cooking to be very stressful. I never understood why people spend so much time making something and then use just 5 to 10 minutes to enjoy it. But then, I got to find out that enjoying food isn’t only done after cooking, the whole process could also be enjoyed.
I had to save this for the last because it’s the best part, I believe. Cooking isn’t just something I enjoy doing; it doesn’t just make me happy. It also makes me very confident in myself. I remember one particular day after serving my mom the food I cooked, I began stealing glances of her just to see if she would enjoy the food or not. And when she said, “That’s my international chef,” my confidence went through the roof.
There were also days she complained of something, and oddly enough, it didn’t even make me feel bad. I only felt like I knew better and would do great the next time.
If someone told me last year that a time would come when I would actually love and want to cook, I would have seen the person as a clown. But here I am, enjoying every second I put on my apron.

I had always loved cooking, but when I was little, my mom won't allow me to enter the kitchen. As a little girl that want to learn, I went to my friend's place to learn from her mom, always watching her whenever she's cooking. One day, I told my mom I wanted to cook, and surprisingly, she allowed me to cook that day and was shocked to see how well I did. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! You were really determined. That sounds so cool.
Well those of us that love food alot 😁 don't really think about the process at all, as long as I can cook what I want, when I want and to taste the way I want, nothing else matters. I love cooking myself because I literally enjoy it 😌😌
That advice from your mum is worth a thousand applaud 👏 because it served as a push for you to rekindle your cooking spirit. Thank you for sharing
Hahaha, that’s so funny.

Cooking is like an emotional craft; playing around with a particular ingredient, mixing techniques, plus emotional input, to make the food come out really delicious and inviting to the eye.
Mothers knows best. Good thing you actually listened to her advice and started cooking again.
However, combining crocheting and cooking is really solid.
The different delicacies you displayed is really looking yummy and I'm sure they'll taste absolutely delicious. Learning to cook now for your self is really a good way to prepare for your kids when they eventually come in the future.
We should always be grateful for having our parents—especially our mothers around when we are much older and now having kids.
Beautiful read, my best regards.😊
Yes. Mothers always know best.
Cheers 🥂
