CineTV Contest #141: Haikyuu! is My Ultimate Comfort Anime <3

I may be deviating a bit from the CineTV Contest this time around, because instead of sharing my favorite movie that is relaxing, I'm sharing my comfort anime series instead.

It's called Haikyuu!!, a Japanese animated series. It is about a short high schooler named Hinata Shoyo who fell in love with volleyball after watching the "Little Giant" (a short high school volleyball player) fly.

Hinata is short, but he can jump really high. Although he lost his first official match in junior high school, he aimed to reach his goal in high school... the same school where the Little Giant he admires went to, Karasuno High School.

Well, technically, the franchise has five movies released so far. I watched the fan screening of the movie on the photo above last year with my cousin, and we had a blast. It was called Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle.

This movie is the continuation of the fourth season of the TV series, which is unique compared to its past movies. Let me show you a screenshot of my MAL (MyAnimeList) account focusing on Haikyuu!!.

I've watched all of them on the list. The first two are the upcoming movie and a special episode. Basically, the movies on numbers 6, 7, 12, and 13 are just recaps of the previous seasons, but I also watched them a couple of times.

Now, enough with the introduction... let me talk about why I consider this series my comfort anime.

I have always been into sports anime... and it all started with Slam Dunk, a basketball anime, which I first watched when I was in elementary school. It made me want to play basketball even more.

Haikyuu!, on the other hand, is a volleyball anime. The main character is a breath of fresh air. He's an oddball oozing with positivity, so looking at him makes me feel happy as well.

The matches are exciting and fun to watch. However, for some reason, watching them relaxes me. I believe it's because the intense matches and funny yet admirable characters help me get my mind off things. I just focus on their games, and whatever craziness it is that they're doing... and poof! I'm able to escape reality!

To be honest, I feel the same whenever I watch an interesting anime. However, Haikyuu!! is the only animated series I've watched more than a dozen times... and counting!

I've rewatched the anime I like around three times on average, but Haikyuu!! is just different. I also don't understand why I do it, though. hahah

It's funny because when someone asks me what my favorite anime is, I can't answer it directly. There are tons of anime I've enjoyed even more than Haikyuu!!. Surely, it's among my top 5 list, but the list changes every time.

However, if someone asks me what my comfort anime is, I'll immediately answer Haikyuu!!. It's definitely my ultimate stress reliever. It just happened, and I can't control it. haha

Talking about it is making me want to watch the series again. My to-watch list keeps on growing, but I always end up rewatching many of my favorite older shows. What should I do?

So yeah, Haikyuu!! is my ultimate comfort anime... I enjoy watching it alone, but I had fun watching it with my mom and my cousins. So, if you're curious, why not give it a shot if you haven't already? ^^

I'll end this post here. Thanks for reading, and see you around! (^^,)/

I like football, but I know the protagonist is going to win, so it doesn't interest me that much. Unlike real-life matches, they are unpredictable. Also, I know in every anime the protagonist wins the fight, but that feels different to me, and watching anime-related sports doesn't grab my attention. What about you?
