CineTV Contest: Escape Room-Tournament of Champions

Never again will I watch this movie!!!

But guess who has watched it five times now? Yes, me. It’s the kind of movie that kills your favorite character but still has you glued to the screen. Tears in eyes, popcorn in hand, heart in mouth. One second you’re breathing fine, the next you’re gripping the edge of your seat like your life depends on it. And it's not even the jump scare, this movie has none has far as I'm concerned, it's just the unexpectedness. I genuinely don’t know why I enjoy being emotionally tortured like this, but here we are.

So, let’s talk about Escape room: Tournament of Champions. If you’re looking for a movie that lets you relax, this ain’t it. If you want a fun, easy-to-watch film with a predictable plot, zero stress and romantic cheesiness, walk away. But if you’re like me and you enjoy watching people get thrown into the most ridiculous, brain-melting puzzles while you yell at your screen like you would’ve done better, then welcome. You’re gonna love it here.

Now, I won’t spoil anything because I believe in letting people suffer—sorry, experience movies for themselves, but just know this: the intensity in this one, tsk tsk, absolutely mind-blowing. Seriously, I didn't check but I'm sure my blood pressure went up while watching. I swear, I could hear my heartbeat in my ears half the time. From the moment the movie starts, you’re dragged into the chaos. No time to breathe, no time to blink, no time to even process what’s happening.

What I love most, though, is how it makes you think. These aren’t your regular “find the key and escape” kinda puzzles. Nope, totally different from the candy games. The level of detail and trickery in these rooms will have you questioning if you’d even make it past the first challenge (I know I wouldn't).

Some of the characters are absolutely intelligent, with uhm, althought, questionable acting skills, but we get it, it's less about the acting here and more about the picture they're trying to paint. But I can only imagine how more immersive it would have been if more A-grade acting was there.

Somehow, even when they made questionable decisions (in the movie), I couldn’t stop rooting for them. That’s the thing about this movie, it sucks you in. You care about the characters, even when you know they might not make it.

Now, let’s be real. Is this movie a masterpiece? Nope. Is it the deepest, most groundbreaking thriller ever? Also no. But does it deliver on thrills? 1000% yes. It’s the kind of film that leaves you drained but still somehow wanting more, plus it is highly detailed. And that’s exactly why, despite all my dramatic complaints, I keep watching it. Again and again.

if you’re looking for a movie that’ll keep your heart racing and your stress levels through the roof,** Escape Room: Tournament of Champions** is it. Although, it is a sequel to the first Escape room.

Just don’t watch it alone. Or at night. Or with the expectation that you’ll be able to sleep peacefully afterward.
