Magically Wicked!

When I found out that Cynthia, the lady who starred as Harriet was also in Wicked, I was extremely curious. Now when I found out Ariana Grande was also part, I didn’t just run to watch it, I flew. What I really wanted to know was how Cynthia would play a wicked witch because she is always sweet in every movie of hers I watch.

Wicked is 2024 Fantasy movie about Elphaba, a girl born with green skin who possessed magical powers she had no idea about, and was also often misunderstood. She accompanied her sister to school and after the magic teacher saw her potential, she asked her to stay.
She later became friends and roommates with Glinda, who was adored by everyone at school because of how perfect they perceived her to be.

Let me start with the actors. Glinda and Elphaba killed it. I kind of wasn’t surprised when I saw how good they were because these are talented people. I love the fact that Elphaba was very innocent in the beginning but switched when she found out the secret behind….okay no. No spoilers.

Now that I’m talking about this movie, I just realized that they never showed us any wickedness from Elphaba. The whole movie began with Glinda saying the wicked witch was dead and then, they started showing how she got to know the wicked witch. But nothing they showed portrayed Elphaba as wicked.

In fact, she was the one fighting again certain evil people in the movie. I know there’s definitely going to be a part two but I think the part one should have shown us a little wicked part of her or at least let us know why she was called the wicked witch. Okay let’s continue from where I stopped.

Let’s talk about the cinematography. No, hold on. I found out there was no CGI used in this movie. They actually built the school and used green paint for certain parts. That alone made me give them a round of applause because what!!! If the reason for that was to produce something realistic, then they actually killed it.

Although they showed a lot of magical things and we all know nothing like that exists, these ones seemed pretty real. Oh they really tried. And the cinematography!!! It was so smooth. The angles they used for the movie especially in the library scene. I think thewholet team should be awarded because this was a work of art.

I’m not a fan of musical movies and you’d often find me forwarding the music part of the movie so this was no different. I have a very short attention span when it comes to movies so the moment there’s a musical interlude, I just forget what I was even watching, along with the storyline and everything. Don’t get me wrong, the songs in this movie were entertaining but I just couldn’t keep up. I don’t see any reason why you just can’t say “alright I’ve heard you” and have to give us “Alrightttttt, I’ve heard youuuuuu” in F sharp.

Anyway, “This movie waassss greeaaaatttttt”( in q flat) that’s me giving you guys a taste of the musical part of the movie. For me, I learned that there really is a thin line between love and hatred because of what I saw between Elphaba and Glinda. 7/10 for Wicked!
