Today is election day in Hungary, very high turnout this time, Orban (Fidesz) vs Magyar (Tisza). Opposition leader Peter Magyar (Tisza) significantly leading on Polymarket and now in exit polls too.

Heute sind die Parlamentswahlen in Ungarn, bei der die Partei von Orban (Fidesz) laut Meinungsumfragen und Polymarket abgewählt werden könnte. Die Wahlbeteiligung soll sehr hoch sein, in einer Stunde werden dann die ersten Ergebnisse und Exit Polls bekannt, wird spannend.

War ein sehr brutaler Wahlkampf, bei der es auch um die Zukunft der EU und die Ukraine geht. Orban blockiert im Moment noch die 90 Milliarden Hilfe für die Ukraine, was auch zu einem heftigen Schlagabtausch mit Zelenskyj geführt hat.

Orban wird vorgeworfen Informationen aus EU-Sitzungen an Russland weitergeben zu haben, ein zu enges Verhältnis mit Russland zu pflegen. Zuletzt wurde Orban auch von Trump und JD Vance im Wahlkampf unterstützt. JD Vance war vor Kurzem in Budapest.

Auf der anderen Seite hat Orban mit seinem strikten Zuwanderungsprogramm gepunktet.

Peter Magyar, ebenfalls ein konservativer Kandidat und ehemaliges Fidesz-Mitglied, positioniert sich pro-europäischer (Pro EU), und möchte der Korruption den Kampf ansagen, das autokratische System von Orban zurück bauen.

Laut Meta-Polls führt Peter Magyar um 10 Prozentpunkte vor Orban, bei anderen Umfragen sogar um die 20%. Auf Polymarket stand es heute Vormittag bei 70:30 gegen Orban.

Bin gespannt, wie das heute ausgeht. Wird sicher noch turbulent.

Parliamentary elections are taking place in Hungary today, and according to opinion polls and Polymarket, Orbán’s party (Fidesz) could lose. Voter turnout is expected to be very high; the first results and exit polls will be released in an hour—it’s going to be exciting.

It has been a very brutal campaign, one that also revolves around the future of the EU and Ukraine. Orban is currently still blocking the 90 billion euros in aid for Ukraine, which has also led to a heated exchange with Zelenskyy.

Orban is accused of passing information from EU meetings on to Russia and of maintaining too close a relationship with Russia. Most recently, Orban was also supported in the campaign by Trump and JD Vance. JD Vance was in Budapest just recently.

On the other hand, Orban has scored points with his strict immigration policy.

Peter Magyar, also a conservative candidate and former Fidesz member, positions himself as pro-European (pro-EU) and wants to fight corruption and dismantle Orban’s autocratic system.

According to Meta-Polls, Peter Magyar leads Orban by 10 percentage points; in other polls, the lead is as high as 20%. On Polymarket, the odds this morning stood at 70:30 against Orban.
