Someone donated Bitcoin to the Austrian treasury department in order to start a Bitcoin reserve. They refused the gift.
Christian Friedl, einer der Initiatoren des Bitcoin-Volksbegehrens in Österreich, hat eine Bitcoin-Wallet-Card (gedruckt von der Österreichischen Staatsdruckerei) mit 0.00070021 Bitcoin (ca. 72 Euro bzw. 1000 Schilling) an das Finanzministerium gespendet, um damit den Grundstein einer Bitcoin-Reserve zu legen.
Das Ministerium wusste aber nicht so recht, was sie damit machen sollen und haben sich nach einer Anfrage dazu entschlossen, das Geschenk nicht anzunehmen und wieder zu retournieren. Das Ministerium darf natürlich keine Geschenke annehmen.
Witzige Aktion, von der sogar im "Standard" berichtet wurde:

Christian Friedl, one of the initiators of a Bitcoin referendum in Austria, donated a Bitcoin wallet card (printed by the Austrian State Printing Office) containing 0.00070021 Bitcoin (approx. 72 euros or 1,000 schillings) to the Ministry of Finance in order to lay the foundation for a Bitcoin reserve.
However, the ministry was unsure what to do with the donation and, after inquiring, decided not to accept the gift and to return it. Of course, the ministry is not allowed to accept gifts.
A funny story that was even reported in the Austrian media:

Es besteht definitiv kein Interesse mehr im EU Raum das Ruder nochmal herum zu reißen, im Sinne des Volkes.
Man muss sich selber informieren und so gut schützen wie es halt geht, von Regierungen ist nichts (gutes) mehr zu erwarten, leider.

Ignorance can make one to throw a bag of gold into the ocean. It's obvious that Austria will bite their finger in future when they come to realize that Bitcoin is a good way to go.

Well, our government received a donation of almost 500 BTC. Beat that! :))

Oh wow, this is a wild story, and interesting that the donation was originally accepted.
My best guess is the donor is dead somewhere in Asia, as the whole story is pretty shabby :)
