New Japanese bike pedals for my e-bike (MKS IC-Lite). Are lighter pedals less durable?

Habe mittlerweile neue Pedale für mein E-Bike besorgt, da mir eines der ursprünglich verbauten Klapp-Pedale aus Kunststoff während der Fahrt abgebrochen ist, was lebensgefährlich war.

Bin bei diesen japanischen Pedalen der Firma MKS (MIKASHIMA INDUSTRIAL) gelandet, die aus einer Alumimium-Legierung bestehen und wesentlich robuster sein sollten als die klappbaren Pedale aus Kunststoff.

Touring und Mountainbike-Pedale unterscheiden sich hauptsächlich in Größe und Gewicht, wobei je leichter die Pedale, desto teurer werden diese.

Dieses Modell wiegt 365g, die kompaktere Version kommt auf 233g, wobei ich mir nicht sicher bin, wie stabil die leichteren Pedale dann wirklich sind.

Leider machen die Hersteller keine genauen Angaben zur verwendeten Legierung und zur Stabilität der Pedale, wie viel Kraft ein Pedal aushält, bevor die Achse bzw. der Rahmen bricht.

Leichtere Pedale werden normalerweise CNC-gefräst und können auch eine stabilere Legierung verwenden. Für die Stabilität nicht benötigte Teile werden herausgeschnitten. Dead weight. Das spart zusätzlich Gewicht.

Wobei das Gewicht der Pedale bei E-Bikes nicht so wichtig ist. Ob die Pedale jetzt 100g mehr oder weniger wiegen, ist mir eigentlich egal. Hauptsache sie brechen nicht.

I have now bought new pedals for my e-bike because a plastic folding pedal broke off while I was riding, which was a very dangerous and life-threatening situation.

I ended up with these Japanese pedals from MKS (MIKASHIMA INDUSTRIAL), which are made of an aluminum alloy and should be much more robust than the folding plastic pedals shipped with the ADO e-bike.

Touring and mountain bike pedals differ mainly in size and weight, with the lighter the pedals, the more expensive they are.

This model weighs 365g, the more compact version comes in at 233g, although I'm not sure how stable the lighter pedals really are.

Unfortunately, the manufacturers don't give any precise details about the alloy used and the stability of the pedals, how much force a pedal can withstand before the axle or frame breaks.

Lighter pedals are usually CNC-milled and can also use a more stable alloy. Parts that are not needed for stability are cut out. Dead weight. This saves additional weight.

However, the weight of the pedals is not so important for e-bikes. I don't really care whether the pedals weigh 100g more or less. The main thing is that they don't break.
