Die Karlsbrücke in Prag wurde im 14. Jahrhundert unter dem Römisch-deutschen König Karl IV in Auftrag gegeben, als Prag noch zu Böhmen und später zur Habsburgmonarchie gehörte. Die Errichtung der 516m langen Brücke über die Moldau (tschechisch Vltava) hat 45 Jahre gedauert und wurde erst Anfang des 15. Jahrhunderts (1402) fertiggestellt. Der Bau hat damit 2-3 Generationen gedauert, was unglaublich ist. Dafür ist die Brücke auch heute noch ein echtes Kunstwerk und Weltkulturerbe.

The Charles Bridge in Prague was commissioned in the 14th century under the Roman-German King Charles IV, when Prague still belonged to Bohemia and later to the Habsburg Monarchy. The construction of the 516 meter (1,692 ft) long bridge over the Vltava River took 45 years and was not completed until the beginning of the 15th century (1402). The construction thus took 2-3 generations, which is incredible. As a result, the bridge is still a true piece of art and a World Heritage Site today.
Wow, 2-3 generations to build that bridge? That is quite a long time, and it looks like a nice piece of history.
Immer wieder schön anzusehen. Ich war jetzt die letzten beiden Jahre 1x in Prag da es von Linz nicht so sonderlich weit ist werde ich es sicher wieder mal besuchen. Nächstes Jahr kommt aber sicher noch was anderes zuerst.
