BIP 177: Should Bitcoin redefine it's base unit Sats to Bitcoin, resulting in 2.1 quadrillion Bitcoin? Bad idea imho.

1 Bit = 100 Sats = 0.00000100 Bitcoin (BTC)

English

Should Bitcoin rename its base unit “Satoshi” (Sats) to "Bitcoin"? There is currently another controversial proposal to rename the base unit of Bitcoin.

1 Statoshi would then be 1 Bitcoin.

Supporters believe that this would be a solution to Bitcoin's confusing decimal places and unit bias.

Critics see this as a softening of the 21 million Bitcoin cap. By renaming the units, there would suddenly be 2.1 quadrillion (10^15) Bitcoin.

Don't think this is a good idea. Bitcoin already has smaller units that can be used to express small amounts. Bits and sats.

1 bit = 100 sats = 0.00000100 Bitcoin (BTC)

What do you think about the proposal to rename Satoshis to Bitcoin? How to deal with the unit bias with the Bitcoin/dollar exchange rate constantly rising?

I don't like this change, bitcoin has to stay as it is

1 BTC should remain 100M Sats or if you like you can call them Bits. But I prefer Sats as a reference to Bitcoins founder Satoshi.

This strikes me as nonsense that won't get anywhere. Besides, nothing will stop us from continuing to call Bitcoins Bitcoins and Satoshi Satoshi.

I think it should stay the same as it may introduce some confusion

Changing the name of satoshis does not solve the problem of unit bias and could create more confusion within the community. Moreover, the name Satoshi holds historical value within the Bitcoin ecosystem, as it honors its creator.

I think it should continue the way it is going. Any change will cause people to lose confidence and therefore prices will come down. So nothing like this should happen right now.

I don't think they should change it. It would confuse a bunch of people who already know the current system.

no, it should remain the same.
