Ribs & Goat Cheese Salad

Lots of foodies content

I was sorting through my folders and realised that I created a ton of folders with tapas, lunch or dinner moments and delicious food over the past period but haven't shared many of them while some of them are definitely worth mentioning as the food was surprisingly good.

Get out of here!

In the past months, it has been very windy and sometimes rainy as well. Even though there are water shortages (so they say), I surely don't remember seeing this much rain and having this many windy days the previous year around this time of year. Now it seems slowly the great days filled with sun are getting the overhand and I remember that this particular trip to the big city was one of the first days with great weather.

We were all fed up after a weekend of wind and not being able to open any windows because it was just too bad. That Monday, the wind was gone and the sun appeared in full glory, a perfect moment to get out in the afternoon and tour around a bit.

Coastline

Every single time that we drive to another city and do it along the coastline, it's a lovely view and it honestly never gets boring. It's funny because there are a few of these points where we drive and shout "we live here, woohoooo" every single time. We love to remind ourselves where we came from and where we're heading and living in the moment and being grateful for an amazing view while touring around is part of that.

City trip

Now you probably know that I'm not a city girl anymore, I come from the city, born and raised but I would not really want to live there anymore. Yet, there are some things that I love to do when we go to the city and that's explore new places to eat because we aren't there as often as we are driving through our own area so there's tons of stuff to explore. I'm trying to find new places every time an opportunity arises that we can grab some food.

No reservation

When the weather is great and it's been very windy, you can almost be sure that everyone will be out and about the very first day once the weather improves, this means that a lot of restaurants are fully booked with reservations and it can be hard to find a table, even if you're just with a few people.

The restaurant I picked on maps had a line until outside and was clearly going to take forever until we would be able to enter. Thankfully, there was a neighbour restaurant that didn't pull much attention from the outside but when we walked in, it looked really cosy and smelled great. Thankfully, there was a free table!

Hungry

I have to tell you that we were sent back and forward by maps due to some road closures and us missing an exit once. Therefore we were fed up driving around and so happy when we finally sat in the restaurant and were able to order some drinks.

This is how it usually goes, a big bottle of water for me and the little one, and a beer for the boyfriend. He prefers Mahou though, but also likes Estrella Galicia. After such a long drive in the sun, I guess all of these beers taste good.

What to order

We were a bit in doubt about what we'd order because I felt like eating at least a little healthy and my boyfriend felt like he needed meat. The meat was marked as "big" so we went for a shared plate of the ribs and a salad with goat cheese (you know I love that!) plus some portion of fries, which were homemade btw.

It's a good thing we ordered a salad and a meat dish because the only veggies on the rib plate were these red small paprika's. They were grilled, and very tasteful. The salad was ok but had too little goat cheese to my liking because I prefer my salads well-balanced and we now had to share just one slice.

Sadly for me (but good for him), my boyfriend is now on team goat cheese and understands why I love it so much. What a taste explosion that can be in a salad, wow!

The meat was delicious!

Although we both love ribs, they often disappoint when we order them, yes, we have a few places in our town where we know they are ok but none of these places have these truly delicious ones and I got to tell you that that afternoon, I ate more meat than I usually do. That means the meat was really tender and tasted great.

Lovely lunch

It's great that we ended up in this restaurant, which was a very small one but the owner was proud of what he serves and has feeling for hospitality and serving good food. It was a great experience and I think it's safe to say we will return here when we're in the area and hungry.

It wasn't as cheap as going for tapas but I also remember that it wasn't really expensive either for the quality of food we were served. Everything was fresh and definitely not one of these salads where you find veggies that should have been thrown out days ago.

Foodies dreams
