Hello Everyone and welcome to my travel blog in Japan. Today, I'll write about our trip to Enoshima. Enoshima is an island located off the coast of Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo. It's a popular day trip destination known for its blend of nature, culture, history, and ocean views.
While Enoshima was our destination, getting there was an experience by itself. Our first stop was Ueno station where it connects to various train lines.
From Ueno station, we took a train going to Ofuna. There are several ways to go to Enoshima from Tokyo but we chose Ofuna because we wanted to try riding a Monorail. We arrived in Ofuna after an hour's ride. The station connects to Lumine Wing Mall.
Outside the mall, the ambiance is a bit different from Tokyo. It seems less busy and the buildings are not as high.
Since it was around lunch time, we decided to try this restaurant (Sanuki Udon Hanamaru). The food is similar to Marugame where I frequently eat in Manila.
I tried their Udon and Tempura that I also eat at Marugame. I didn't taste much difference from the ones I usually eat.
After our meal, we headed to the Monorail station.
The Monorail is also a train but the difference is it only has one rail, thus the name. Also this one is suspended instead of running on rails.
We took the first car so that we can see where we're going. It was a fun ride, the train would go inside dark tunnels and emerge to a lush forest.
Finally we reached Enoshima but we still have to take a bus ride to the beach.
We stayed a bit in the rooftop terrace to take some photos.
The view of the city from above.
After that we went down to take a bus.
After a few minutes bus ride, we reached the beach.
There's a park by the beach where people have picnics.
Some nice statues and a fountain. Reminds of puzzles in Resident Evil that I used to play when I was younger.
I took some macro shots of the statue.

We stayed by the beach for a while, took photos and had long walks.
After a while we spied some streetfood.

We were a bit tired and decided to rest in this restaurant.
We ordered some coffee and pancakes. These tastes as good as it looks!

After our rest we decided to leave since we still plan to go to Kamakura and see the big Buddha statues. It was a fun trip to Enoshima but we have barely scratched the surface. There are lots more to see that we haven't tried yet. Here's a tip if you're planning to visit Japan: be sure to be physically fit because there's a lot of walking involved 😀 Similar to my visit in the Meiji Shrine where we gave up not even halfway through. We got tired easily and wasn't able to cover most of the area. Anyway, the trip was enjoyable not just the destination but the travel to Enoshima as well. We got to see and experience new things that I can tell about my colleagues when I got home.
楽しそうです。
