A Show Of Affection

Affection is a gentle feeling of fondness, liking, or love. It's the spectrum of human connection. While passion is deep, affection is gentle , this fondness happens among families, friends , and colleagues and it's that one sign that signifies "I care about you". We can feel this affection differently, it all depends on what one's love language is.

Gary Chapman in his book , the 5 love languages. He mentioned how several people perceive love, some consider touch as their language, some gift, some words of affirmations, some act of service, and some quality time. Everyone has a category they fall into and once they perceive it from anyone , they feel loved.

Among the five, the act of service is my love language. I believe anything done for me is out of sacrifice and no one can sacrifice something for someone who doesn't matter to them . It could be something simple like helping me cook a meal or do a task for me that I wasn't able to do.

In return I reciprocate with whatever I feel is worth it. To some it's a gift, to others it's time, and a few times I return the favour by helping them do something they need assistance with. My way of showing affection differs and I reciprocate to let them know I value them as much as they do to me. Love is supposed to be two-sided, when one side suffers, it shows insufficiency. It's a principle of doing to others what we would have wanted others to do to us.
