There is a massive storm getting ready to make its way across the middle of the US this weekend. I have a feeling it is going to have a devastating impact on much of the region and I hope that everyone in the path of the storm can stay safe. It might be smart to stock up and just hunker down in your house and watch some sports this weekend.
I was talking to my niece in Virginia the other day and she said something about them calling for twenty two inches of snow. I have a feeling ice is going to be the thing she really needs to be concerned about. I would imagine @solominer is already getting things ready for whatever impact this storm might have.
I know this isn't really sports related, but I saw some areas are talking close to an inch of ice. We recently had a storm where we got something like an eighth inch of ice and it was a hot mess. I can't even imagine a full inch. As I said in the post from my main account, it is going to take a long time for them to recover from this if they get that much ice.
As I said, it might be a good idea to just cuddle up inside with a nice beer and watch some sports. There are a couple big football games on Sunday this weekend. With the college football season in the books, all we have to look forward to now is the NFL and our time there is fleeting.
The Patriots take on the Broncos at 3 PM on Sunday and then at 6:30 PM the Rams face the Seahawks. I still think Seattle is the team to beat right now. They seem to have a lot of momentum behind them. I'm just not sure any of the other teams can stack up. Which sucks, because I kind of hate the Seahawks.
I'm still cheering for the Broncos, but I won't be too sad if The Rams pull out some kind of miracle. Stafford's time with Detroit led to a natural affinity for him. It wasn't until he left that he got his first ring, and it would be cool to see him get a second one after so many frustrating seasons in Detroit.
There's a whole mess of college basketball on this weekend as well. Hopefully anyway. They are already predicting that the storm is going to cancel some of the games that are slotted for Saturday and Sunday. I guess maybe keep a close eye on that if you are hoping to see some games. Maryland is heading to East Lansing on Saturday for a noon tip off with the Michigan State Spartans. We are just supposed to get cold temperatures, so I don't think there is much chance of that game getting cancelled unless Maryland can't make it to Michigan.
The SEC is going to be a lot more touch and go.
Whatever you do this weekend, try to stay safe and stay warm!

No sport here this weekend. The oldest one is suspended and the youngest one is sick.
Maybe I will go watch some Cyclocross here in town. There is world cup race, third year in a row but I never went. But if it is cold and rainy, I will do what you suggest watch it from the couch :)
