Committed!

We got word the other day that our third oldest niece had finally made a decision about her future in volleyball and committed to play at a sort of local college. This means we will be doing a bit more traveling to watch her play next year, but it's still going to be a lot closer than our other niece who is in Virginia!

We are really excited to see what this next chapter holds for her. She seems super excited about it and the school has a really good occupational therapy program which is what she ultimately wants to study.

The NCAA Volleyball Championship started yesterday and I was really hoping to catch some of the games, but fate had other things in store. My original plan was to have a screen on in my office so I could watch the games. Then I realized the matches didn't start until 3 in the afternoon. Since I leave work at 3:30 or 4:00 that wasn't going to be an option.

I tried to watch the games when I got home only to discover that the early rounds are only available on ESPN+ which I don't subscribe to. We plan on picking up a subscription in the Spring so we can watch our niece play softball, but it wasn't worth it for me to pay the $13 per month now.

That being said, I'm going to give you the scores as I read them now.

Colorado took out American in straight sets, Baylor went a full five to eliminate Arkansas State, and UCLA also needed five sets to send Georgia Tech packing.

Miami bested Tulsa 3 sets to 1, Indiana beat Toledo in straight sets 3 to 0, and Northern Carolina knocked out UTEP 3 to 1. Northern Iowa eliminated Utah 3 to 2, Utah State had a huge upset over seven seed Tennessee 3 to 2, and Kentucky blanked Wofford 3 to 0.

Purdue also had a straight set win against Wright State, Kansas rolled over High Point 3 to 0, and Wisconsin did the same with Eastern Illinois 3 to 0.

Creighton fought hard and took down Northern Colorado 3 to 2, Cal Poly upset five seed BYU 3 to 2, and Arizona State had a straight set win over Coppin State 3 to 0.

Finally, in Thursday action USC sent Princeton packing 3 to 0.

Games continue today and into the weekend, if you have a subscription to ESPN+, you should check some of them out.

As far as college football, there is only a handful of games on this weekend as we look at the conference championship games. Number 25 James Madison takes on Troy in the Sun Belt Conference Championship, Number 24 North Texas fights number 20 Tulane in the AAC Championship, and number 11 BYU goes up against number 4 Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship.

In the SEC, we have number 3 Georgia facing number 9 Alabama (shocker!), and the game I mostly care about is number 2 Indiana versus number 1 Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship game. It should be a good one. Those two teams have been on a collision course all season. Probably the most anticipated game of the year. Sorry SEC fans.

Finally, in the ACC we have Duke facing number 17 Virginia in that championship game.

Throw in some NCAA basketball and no matter how you look at it, it's going to be a huge weekend for college sports!
