Christmas NCAA Basketball Update

This is going to be a short one for you since it is the holiday. I hope you don't mind too much. I am sure you have much better things to be doing than reading my long winded posts about college basketball. Even if you don't celebrate the holiday, you likely still have better stuff to do with your time!

Last Thursday we had only one game in the top 25. It was a cupcake game and therefore not an upset. Likewise on Friday night there was only one game in the top 25, and it also was not an upset. Number 10 BYU took down Abilene Christian University 85 to 67.

Saturday was a much better day in terms of college basketball with nine games taking place in the top 25 ranked teams. Number 9 Michigan State had a close game against Oakland University, but they came away with the win 79 to 70. Meanwhile, Kentucky had a big upset over number 22 St. John's beating them 78 to 66. Number 12 North Carolina had a close scrape against Ohio State but just edged past them 71 to 70. Number 8 Houston had a nice win over number 14 Arkansas 94 to 85, and number 6 Purdue clinched a win against number 21 Auburn.

Finally on Saturday number 19 Texas Tech had a huge upset win over number 3 Duke 82 to 81. I'm almost sorry I missed that game!

Sunday there were ten games in the top 25. There should have been 11, but the game vs. Brown and USC was cancelled.

Instead, USC played UC Santa Cruz and hammered them 102 to 63. Other than that, there were no other upsets on Sunday, but I would like to point out that Nebraska is number 15 in the nation. Wow, nice job huskers!

Typically there are no games on Monday, but this week we had seven of them. None of them were upsets, but number 20 Illinois had a great big lopsided 91 to 48 win over Missouri.

Tuesday there were no games in the top 25, nor were there any on Wednesday.
