In this post, we are going to discuss some negativity about self-medication and I will share my experience with you guys as well. But before we start, I think we have to define self-medication. It can be defined as the act or practice of taking a medication without the consultation of a healthcare professional. Today in our modern world, self-medication has become rampant and a lot of people are dying because of it. It is high time we abstain from self-medication and rather visit and consult our doctors for medication when needed.

With me, I started to go in with self-medication when I used to experience this frequent body fatigue and headaches especially any time I close from work and also from any busy schedule. I decided to go for painkillers and sometimes energy drinks to manage symptoms instead of visiting the doctor. It was working alright and perfectly at the start and I was happy to have found a solution to my problem.

I started to develop more interest in those energy drinks as time went on and I felt like I was taking them which started to develop some side effects to my system. I started to experience some stomach problems like ulcers from taking painkillers and energy drinks. These energy drinks also led me to experience late-night sleep.

Moreover, I was emotionally developing some mental health issues as I started to always be in a state of worry and anxiety. It was too much for me at then and I was thinking I was becoming a drug addict because I felt like I couldn’t get up in a day without not having it. I started to advise myself and what made me stay away from them was the time I complained to a friend of mine who happens to be a Doctor about my condition and how I feel.

When he asked me what drugs I used to take, I told him and he was angry with me so he had to advise me to stop taking those energy drinks and painkillers from the over-the-counter. He gave me ideas as to how I could go about those symptoms and also prescribed medication for me as well. Now, I am glad I have moved away from those acts and I am feeling normal and better now.

I will never advise anyone to adopt self-medication as a method of treatment or curing their health conditions, no matter the severity of the illness. Always visit the doctor and make sure you follow their medications and prescriptions. Self-medication has several serious consequences, and as the saying goes, “Experience is the best teacher.” STAY AWAY FROM SELF-MEDICATION.

Thank you all for your time and attention in reading my post. I am looking forward to seeing you all in my subsequent posts.

Your experience is similar to a friend at work who used to take energy drinks every time he had a headache, because according to him it was more effective than the drugs themselves 🙈 There is nothing better than giving up medication for those who have studied and are still working with it 😊

Greetings and success to you my friend @abu78 👋
