The Pressure to Look Rich in a World That Rewards Appearances

A lots of people wants to wants crave riches and chases it with all they've got, but before they get that riches, they put of pressure or something else, you'll see them delve into different things just to look rich to the general public, even though they are not actually rich and are barely surviving on the little they have. Doing this is something most people can't really understand, especially given the fact that you're struggling and instead of showing your worth, you instead choose to look beyond your means, not minding what such lifestyle could cost you. Have I have had the pressure to look rich? Below I'll respond to this and related questions.

Personally, I'm not the type of person who gives in to pressure easily, there's no one that will say they've not given in to pressure before, because we're all humans who have feelings and desire, and in as much as we've that, we'll at one point give in to it in one aspect of life even if it's not in all. So even though I'm not the type of person who gives in to pressure and would even because of the pressure, decide to hold my ground, still ill say that there are times I've given in to pressure of looking rich, but then I'll say it's a rare occasion and it's because of the kind of settings I was going that particular day.

Take for instance, earlier last month, my brother was selected among thousands of people to undergo a leadership training under the guidance of the Lagos state governor, at the Lateef Jakande leadership academy, and at their induction, they we're allowed to bring a family member along, of which he invited me, but the gathering has a dressing guide and several other things and so for that reason, I felt the need to dress well, even borrowed a friend car, just so I won't be looking less in a gathering that house top men in Lagos stats, from the governor, down to his deputy, the speaker and several others to name but few. At end I had a good time and even felt I had over do, because they don't actually give a damn about me, compare to the elite at the event.

However, beyond that I think we shouldn't try to live above our means and that's something I won't do, like go into debt just to keep up appearances, I'm someone who already has a big statue that makes people think I'm wealthy, so I won't want to start living like I'm rich to the point where my helper will think I'm well to do and ignore my plea for help.
