The Power of Accountability in Building Trust and Strong Relationships

Accountability can be said to mean the ability of someone to take responsibility for all that's entrusted to them, be it in their decision, their actions, or the outcome of either. Accountability is a necessity, a skill we must develop, a habit we can practice, and a trait we can nurture. It's highly essential we have and take accountability at all times because it not only shows us as being responsible but also goes on to portray us as someone that can be trusted with anything, knowing fully well that you'll own up to your actions and decisions and not look for ways to push blame to someone else.

We must understand the fact that accountability is a relevant habit we must practice in all walks of life, be it in our workplace, our homes, with friends, in a relationship, or wherever it might be. Being accountable gives those around us a sense of comfort, a sense of safety that you're not the type who takes things with levity and would do the right thing regardless of the situation. It shows that you're a man/woman of your word and your integrity isn't something you joke with. bit shows that you're someone who can be entrusted with valuables without people fearing that their business, heart, and the like aren't in safe hands.

It's important to admit blame rather than blame others because it'll show us as someone who can be trusted; it'll make people want to be with us and not want to distance themselves from us, knowing fully well that you aren't the type of person who would most likely push blame on them just to save your own head.

This is so because when you constantly take responsibility anywhere you find yourself, people will trust you to the point where they'll want to entrust you with different other things, and that's because your actions of taking responsibility have built their confidence in you, in that relationship, and in the team at large.

Another thing it inspires is that it encourages honesty and transparency within the relationship and the team. Take, for instance, a place where someone shows accountability; it'll pave room for open communication, where people can admit their wrongs. In a nutshell, it creates an environment where people can be honest and feel free to speak the truth.
